2019 Monthly Color Challenge
I enjoy the 2019 Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Jen. The block comes out promptly on the first of the month, and I look forward to it. This month’s color is red.
In keeping with the psychedelic blocks (according to BigJ), I thought these two fabrics would be a good fit. I was thinking I was pretty smart and sassy when I made the HSTs and would have the direction all flowing correctly. Oops. Not enough fabric to fix, so we’ll just call it more psychedelic.
I made a gallery of the other nine blocks, because I wanted to see them all together, so I thought I’d share that with you too.
Row 1 (from left): January, February, March; Row 2: April, May, June; Row 3: July, August, September.
I think the psychedelic idea came from this block, February’s pink. I used some fun fabric, but it really made a crazy block!
I’m starting to think about the final design for these 2019 Monthly Color Challenge blocks. Should I use a dark sashing? Grey? I think it will be fun to play with some ideas! .
What have you been working on this week?

Hi Wendy! Oooh, I love this block. Red is definitely one of my favorite colors and your block is red on red. What’s not to love about it?!! I’ve been thinking about the layout of these blocks as well. Gray would look nice with these vibrant colors and highlight them all well. So would navy or black or even dark green, I’m guessing. You’ll have to try some options – that’ll be fun! ~smile~ Roseanne

All of your blocks look fantastic — I didn’t notice your “oops” until you mentioned it 🙂

Ooh I especially like the gallery photo!! Love these rich saturated colours.

I love these saturated colors. I might go with a white sashing, but that’s just me. A dark sashing could be good too. Black would make it look like an Amish quilt.

Wendy, your color challenge blocks are so pretty! I really like the saturated color in each of them. I would have a hard time deciding on a sashing for these, but probably something darker like you’re thinking.

I love gray with bright colors. It would make excellent sashing! Or maybe a black with tiny bright accents like multicolor polka dots?

They are all looking wonderful Wendy. I also think grey looks perfect for sashings. Looking forward to seeing what awesomeness you decide to do.

These are looking great! Grey may be perfect for dashing. Straight or on point???
