A Little Cha Cha

I spent the day sewing with Connie and Sally on Wednesday. I didn’t have a project ready, so I was playing with fabric to see if inspiration hit. Wilbs gets pretty excited when I start pulling fabric, as you can see – he’s such good help! I needed to make a quick table runner for a gift, which would be perfect for a sew day project, so the hunt for the right fabric was on. I managed to find all the fabrics in my stash, but forgot to take a photo of the fabrics!

I decided to try the Cha Cha Cha pattern from Atkinson Designs. If you like to have quick table runner patterns in your stash, and you don’t have this one, you may want to get this one (no affiliation).

The runner goes together so quickly. Honestly, the most difficult part is choosing the fabrics. The pattern has fabric requirements for a planned or scrappy design. There are also instructions for making placemats. I went with a planned design for my runner.

For the quilting, I went with a quick serpentine stitch using a lime green thread. I quilted over the seam lines first, then went back and added another row of quilting between those lines.

I had just enough of the print for the backing, leaving me with just a few scraps. I used that same fabric as a backing for my Project Quilting Hourglass challenge. It’s such a pretty fabric, I’m kind of sad it’s almost gone.

This runner will be gifted this weekend (which was why I had to find something to make quickly). It was so easy to make, I’ll definitely be using this pattern again.

What about you – have you made the Cha Cha Cha pattern?

Wilbs made great choices on the fabrics! Choosing the fabrics is always the most difficult part for me. My kitties “paw” the fabric off the shelves for me so they can squeeze onto the shelf. I love that pattern, kind of reminds me of Diann’s zipper blocks. I will save this post into my “Wendy” bookmarks. Yes you have your own folder, with notes. 😀 “Someday” I’ll get to all of them!

Your signature “lime green” made it into the mix!
How come when I am able to use up things from my stash, it doesn’t seem to shrink the stash!!!

Oh that’s a cute one and your fabric choices are great! Yep, I’d be sad to run out of that one. So pretty! I think that design makes a great runner. Some are pretty but seem a little more suited for quilts. This one would look great no matter what is sitting on it, if you know what I mean?

Cute runner! And I bet it was fast to sew together. The pretty print on the front and back is one I’ve admired because it has a nice mix of colors.

Some lucky receiver is getting a wonderful treasure. Your fabric choices are perfect for this time of year. The colors remind me of blueberry, orange and lime sherbets. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

Wilbur did a fabulous job! Does he put fabric away too; I would have him come for a visit! Its a great runner and a very lucky recipient. A quick project, sewn with friends, and being gifted this weekend – nothing bette.r

What a fun project. I haven’t done this particular runner, but I’ve made several Atkinson patterns in the past with great result.

How nice to spend a day quilting with friends. The runner turned out so nice and I’m sure your friend will be very pleased. It is wonderful to have Wilbs help with the choices (ha, ha).

How fantastic to spend a sewing day so productively. The backing print is lovely, and it’s so interesting to have a print in our stash for a while and then when we start using it, wish we had more of it!

No, I have not made the Cha Cha pattern but I can see the appeal of a quick project. Love the dual use of the fabric – works perfectly on the front with other fabrics. I am sure the recipients were thrilled!
