Another Block Review
Yesterday was an all sew day, thanks to the weather. I managed to get caught up on some of my BOMs, so let me show you what I got done.
Moda Blockheads 2
I’m slowly, very slowly, getting caught up. I believe there are about 10 additional blocks in the BOM. The blocks take quite a bit of time to put together, depending on the size and complexity of the block.
This block is 18 inches, so it went together quickly once the fabrics were chosen and cut.
The top block is 6-1/2 inches. It was an easy little block to construct. The bottom block is approximately 8 inches by 14 inches.
This block measures 12-1/2 inches. It’s one of my favorites.
Soon I need to gather all the blocks together and see if they are all going to play together well. I don’t have a design wall large enough to accommodate all the blocks, so it will have to be the floor, or possibly a bed for the layout.
2019 Monthly Color Challenge
This fun BOM, hosted by Jen over at Patterns by Jen, is helping me weed out my stash. The color for this month is pink. I have very little pink; I have absolutely no light pink (other than solids). So I went bold. Note I even managed to coordinate it with last month’s color — green.
The light for photos was so difficult today, with a snowstorm blowing through. I finally dropped the block on the floor by the patio door and snapped a photo. That pink really is that intense. The dot fabric is one of my favorites.
Minnesota Quilters’ 2019 Mystery Quilt
I have Clue 2 finished for this mystery quilt along. I’m excited to see the quilt design now that the blocks are coming together.
When the lighting is better, I’ll snap a photo of both clues. The fabric is really fun. This is not going to be a shy quilt!
Just before I finished for the day, I had to snap a photo of this little pile of trimmings. It just makes me smile.
Do you save your little snippets? If so, what do you do with them?
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, so I need to get my Valentine’s Day quilt finished. That’s my goal for the rest of this week!
What are you planning to finish this week?

I love all your different BOMs. The Block Heads 2 certainly is a challenge to keep up, but they’re fun to see. You were definitely productive on the snow day! (I think 5-6” fell here.)

Thanks, Tracie, it was a good day for sewing!

Looks like you had a fantastically productive day on your snow sew day! You’ll be all caught up on your blocks before you know it. 🙂 They are going to look great together. I hope you get more sewing time this week Wendy, and stay warm!

Thanks, Beth! Another all sewing day, so hopefully I’ll get some things done.
Paige @ Quilted Blooms
Excellent progress! Your blocks look great!

Thanks, Paige!

Your blocks are beautiful. I love that bright pink. I used to save every little bit. As I’ve been rooting through my scraps recently, I’ve been surprised at the tiny bits I felt were worth saving once upon a time. Now I’m not saving as much. I used to have a one-inch rule. Now I’ve expanded to three inches, and I feel downright decadent tossing some of those pieces I used to save.

Thanks, Barbara. I’m changing my view on scraps too.
My Sewful Retirement
Your blocks are coming along nicely! Snow is a good reason to stay in and sew 🙂

Thanks, Karla! I agree!

It looks to me like you got a lot done during your snow day sew day! You have an interesting variety of blocks and all kinds of pretty color, too. I think that makes going into the sewing room so much fun! This week, I’m hoping to finish up a heart mini that I started on Sunday, besides the blocks I’m working on for my RSC projects. Lots to do!
piecefulwendy
Looking forward to seeing your heart mini!

I hope I can finish something this week! I would like to start a block for the February RSC challenge and actually finish one at least
piecefulwendy
Hope you can make it happen!

Super productive snow days are the best! It looks like you are starting to zip along on the Blockheads QAL. I bet those pinks would have really POPPED against the white snow outside. I love them!
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Tish! I might have to snag a snow shot after this weather settles down!

This quilt will be stunning! I love your colours!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

Nice job catching up! I love it when I can do that. Smart move coordinating your blocks for PBJ Colorblocks. I like when that works – I’m doing all batiks so not sure I will have that happy coincidence.
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Kathleen, I still have a ways to go with Moda, but I’m closer!

You have been busy (again)! The Moda quilt is going to be a stunner.
Yes, I do save the snippets. They make good stuffing for pincushions
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Mariss. Using them to stuff pincushions is a great idea!

Hi again! This post popped in today – good thing I scrolled down to see if I missed any. Those Modahead blocks look great. That will be a fun quilt to put together. I haven’t made my pink block yet . . . but maybe will get to it this weekend. I don’t save all my trimmings although just seeing the pile makes me smile. ~smile~ Roseanne

So much to do, sew little time, right?! Thanks!
