Back Home

I’m back home aftering taking a little trip with BigJ this past week. We had a lovely trip, driving to Arkansas. Here’s some highlights I thought would be fun to share with you.

There was an elephant in the room . . .

There were mountain drives and beautiful views.

This was my daily view from our rental home.

I did some sewing while I was there. Here’s a tiny peek – more on that coming in future posts!

We had a few uninvited guests. This lovely fella (lady?) was guarding our front door. We had some other uninvited guests indoors, who weren’t nearly as lovely (did you hear my shrieking?) . . .

The highlight of my trip? I got to meet Helen! Helen and I met through our blogs. Hers is Word Weaver Art, so I hope you check it out if you don’t know her already. She is one talented lady, and often inspires me. She dabbles in paint while I dabble in fabric, and we have fun chatting back and forth.

I even got to bring another of her paintings home with me (I’m so excited!!). We had a quick, but wonderful, visit. Thanks, Helen, for the invite to your lovely home!

Since I was gone, I missed last week’s To Do Tuesday party and my friends for I Like Thursday posts. I’ll catch up with the Thursday group later this week.

Here’s my last Tuesday list:

  • Finish challenge quilt top – Done!
  • Write post for GGG Blog Hop – Done!
  • Keep working on Harry the Crow – progress!

I’ll show you my progress on Harry the Crow soon. I’m working on his wings and tail, so once I have them done, I’ll post a photo. Meanwhile, here’s my to do list for the coming week:

  • Test Pattern reveal
  • Music Blog Hop
  • Christmas projects

I’ll be linking up with Texas Quilt Gal for her To Do Tuesday Linky Party.

Gee, but it’s good to be back home!

I am SO JEALOUS and at the same time SO HAPPY for you to have met up with Helen!! I’m sure she’s told you our story. One day we will meet too. I recognize that church painting! Little getaways are so good for us aren’t they. I’m definitely with Cindy on the keeping the spiders (and other critters) to yourself.

Hi Wendy! I am thrilled to hear that you had a wonderful time (except for that huge spider). EEK! How extra special that you were able to meet and spend some time with Helen! I’ll bet a certain cat we know missed you both like crazy. Did you receive the cold shoulder? That painting is just gorgeous! What a talent she has. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Arkansas never fails to show off the best vistas. I LOVE that photo of you and Helen! That little church is the same style as the little church (now gone) that we attended when I was a child. Is that bag you are wearing one that you made? Thanking you in advance for sharing with To Do Tuesday. 🙂

Glad you had a nice trip(even with those unwanted visitors) and made it home safely. Lucky you getting to meet a blog friend, which other paintings do you have of hers? Where was Wilbs at while you were gone-home alone, with check in’s from M and C?

Welcome home, Wendy! It appears you not only had yourself a great roadtrip, but also a personal quilting mini-retreat as well. Thanks for introducing us to Helen. I noticed some of her paintings include my favorite animal: goats! HA!
BTW: what’s a Music Blog Hop?

sorry we didn’t plan to meet up but with just getting over being sick there was no way I had the energy for the drive to where you were you were at. I hope you didn’t have any snakes near by. I have not seen Helen’s blog so will check that out.

Thank you for introducing us to Helen. Her painting is lovely. We stayed at Greers’s Ferry Lake last year. The drive through the Ozarks was beautiful in the early morning. So many shades of green compared to New Mexico and so much water too.
Happy working on your to do list.

Sounds like a great trip, Wendy! I personally think that elephant was in your room because Alabama beat Arkansas!! Must have been some kind of bet! LOL LOL Seriously though, it sounds like a great trip! Have fun with your list this week!

Looks like a great trip. Love that picture of you with your blogging buddy. Isn’t it fun meeting old friends we’ve known forever and never met?

It’s always fun to get away, and looks like you had a beautiful spot to stay in! I’m looking forward to seeing what those little pieces are going to turn into. It looks like your rotating cutting mat was a handy travel sewing companion. Have fun working on Harry!

Welcome home, Wendy! I also recently got back from a trip to the east coast. I thought I might like to live there until I saw a very large spider, similar to your’s! EGAD! The thing was the biggest spider I have ever seen!
I bet Wilbs was happy when you got back! I am looking forward to seeing progress on Harry! 🙂

  • The Morning Latte

Ha on the elephant! I think it would have been great to sew with that view–how fun!! But yes, I guess with the lakes and the woods come the insects. I LOVE the pic with you and Helen! I’m so glad you captured that happy moment!
