Bowlful of Attitude
Bowlful of Attitude — not a usual title for a quilt blog, but I finished my little Be Bowl Fillers this week, and I needed a pithy title! Besides, this has been my outdoor view most of the day.
So an attitude adjustment was in order. Rather than complain about the weather, I should . .
Grateful for the moisture because I don’t have to water my outdoor plants. I should also be . .
Joyful that I don’t need to be out weeding today. I can wait a few more days for that task, and it will be easier to pull them out when I do!
I’m feeling pretty proud and sassy about getting these little bowl fillers done. Really, though, it’s better to . .
Right? There’s nothing fancy about my work on these. I just enjoyed the process. Seeing them in my little wood bowl, it’s easy to . .
I’ve had the house to myself over the weekend, and I’ve enjoyed the quiet time, full control of the remote and other joys of being alone. However, my guys are coming home tonight, so I’d better . .
And in this world today, with all of the unrest and unhappy news, one of the best things we can do is . .
These little bowl fillers from a Bonnie Sullivan kit were very fun and relaxing to make. The pre-printed panels made it so simple and quick. I’m particularly pleased with how well I managed to stitch the little bees. They’re not perfect, but I did enjoy them more than I thought I would.
Here’s the whole gang together.
And here is where the bowl sits in my living room. (It’s really dark in my living room today!)

This is why I love your blog so much. I never know what I am going to see. I didn’t even know bowl fillers were a thing and now I know what to do with the scraps of wool I have leftover from a wool applique project a few years back. Thank you!
piecefulwendy
Aw, thanks, Velda! Glad I gave you some ideas!

Hi Wendy! Oh, these are so darn cute and look great in your living room! It was dark all weekend in our house – it can’t help but be with all that rain! I love the beatitudes – I have very small stuffed pillows hanging in the hallway outside my bedroom. I look at them every single day. Tracie had a whole series on them and made I good sized quilt, if I recall correctly. What a nice finish! The boys got home safely I assume? ~smile~ Roseanne

Thanks, Roseanne!

Those are freaking adorable! Your post today was fun and I enjoyed seeing all your little bowl fillers. We’ve had lots of sunshine but also hot, hot weather. Even though you’ve had lots of liquid sunshine it sounds as if you had a wonderful weekend. Your bees look so cute!
piecefulwendy
Liquid sunshine! Good way to think of it! Thanks!

Sew sweet! What beautiful reminders. You did a great job on the bumble bees. Neat bowl to display them in, too. What did you fill them with? We had 2.3″ in our rain gauge yesterday.
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Nancy, they are filled with polyfil.
Tish
These are such great little fillers for your bowl and great little reminders to be positive. A great little project for a pick me up to remind you that even though it rains, the sun does come back out.

Thanks, Tish!

Wendy those are all so cute. I love your post with each saying and too. It has been crazy weather here too. We have sun for an hour or two then rain for an hour or two, then sun again. Never know what’s next.
piecefulwendy
Thank you, Jan! We could use some sunshine!

They are just as sweet as can bee;) Perfect spot in your living room too. Good thing I emptied my gauge yesterday afternoon, it’s almost full this morning!
piecefulwendy
Thanks! More rain today I think 🙁

How darling are these be-autiful bowl fillers?? I love the sentiments and the sweet little stitched bees on each one! What are they filled with? I hope it is something that smells wonderful 🙂
piecefulwendy
I used polyfil for the stuffing; didn’t even think about putting a scent in! 🙁
Barbara
Well, aren’t those cute. Great post. Bonnie Sullivan designed my Tuxedo Tales blocks. Love her work.

Wendy this are adorable and so meaningful! You did a beautiful job on each one, and I love how you tied the post together with words and photos. I also love the ‘control of the remote’ comment, I hear ya! I wonder if that rain is what’s headed our way late tonight/wee hours bringing with it some relief from the heat/humidity I hope.
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Sandra ☺️ I do hope you get some relief from that weather!
Eileen

Very fun and pretty bowl fillers (I wasn’t sure what one of those was, so thanks for the education). It’s been pretty rainy here too, that’s very good stitching weather.
piecefulwendy
Thank you, Kate!

These are SEW precious, Wendy! I love them! You did a great job on the bees too! I’m not much for doing hand embroidery myself, but you nailed it!! I keep saying I’m going to give it a try…maybe one day. I really enjoyed your post too! Thanks for sharing your talent and thoughts – you made my day!

Those are so sweet! And your bees are wonderful and textural and bright. Good work.
