Cat in a Bag
There’s a cat in a bag in my quilt room. Well, technically, a cat ON a bag. I have a fun little finish for this Friday. I made the Easy Does It bag, a free pattern from ByAnnie (no affiliate).
I pulled three Tula Pink fat quarters from my stash for this little project. Wilbs was pretty delighted about that kitty fabric.
Once all my pieces were cut, it was time to do the quilting. I was going to do the easy straight line quilting, but changed my mind and decided to practice a little free motion. You can see it in the photo up above, but here’s a photo of the inner fabric, where it shows up a bit better.
My stitching is irregular, but I’m improving just a bit. Isn’t that polka dot fabric fun?
From there, it was all about reading the instructions and sewing the steps. In an afternoon, I had a finished bag. The bag color in this photo looks more blue than it really is. It actually matches the purple polka dots and stripes!
While this was not a difficult pattern, I seemed to find every which way to make it harder than it needed to be. Still, it’s done.
Reading through the instructions first is helpful. For steps where reading is confusing, there are add on videos to watch, which are helpful, too. You can find them on the ByAnnie website.
Here’s a little peek inside.
Wilbs, of course, had to give it his final approval.
So my cat on a bag almost has a cat in a bag – haha. The Easy Does It bag measures 6″H x 9″W x 4-1/4″ D. It is very generously sized – now I need to find a reason to use it!
I’m linking up with Grace and Peace Quilting today for TGIFF.
Happy Friday, all!

The bag is so cute! I haven’t seen the Tula cat fabric before. Now I need to make a few since I have supplies and birthdays to celebrate this month.

Lovely bag! You may need to keep an eye on that bag before Wilbs claims it…lol

What a great bag. Can never have too many bags!! Love the Tula. The stripes is one of my favorite. I have a bit of it left from some binding. Might need to pull it out.

Love it! I am laughing over your making it harder than it needs to be – been there. That cat fabric and the polka dots are great. I’m so glad Wilbs approves.

Enjoy your new bag, Wendy! I think Wilbs believes there should be treats inside. :o))

I think you need to give yourself more credit on your quilting. Did you use the foam or batting in this?

What a cute bag and a free pattern too. Sadly for me, free doesn’t mean it’s easy. Wilber can use this bag when he comes to visit me, wink, wink, wink.

What a fun bag and finish! I love that cat on/in a bag….too funny. Your quilting looks fabulous, I find it is getting a good idea what the right pace is for moving and speed of the machine. Also, do you use a supreme glider…they really do help!

Great fabric, and your bag turned out really cute! I may have to make one, and then maybe a few more for Christmas gifts! 🙂

That’s a great bag, Wendy! Love the fun fabric, too. I haven’t tried a zipper bag in that shape yet, but seeing yours makes me want to. Good thing it is Wilbur approved, too!

Quilting is in my Blood
Such a great bag with that Tula cat fabric, and of course, it’s even better with Wilbur’s nose in it!

I feel like if you’d left him alone for a time, he’d have figured out how to fit into that bag. Our yellow cats just can’t help themselves!

Your Easy does it bag looks great! I’m sure you’ll find a use for it!
Your FMQ looks great! Who cares if your stitches aren’t perfectly even? Once that quilt is washed, you won’t be able to tell! Keep practicing! 🙂

Too funny: I downloaded that pattern about two weeks ago! I love yours, and I love Wilbs contemplating how to best fit inside! Bella would stuff herself inside somehow…

Wendy, it always brightens my day when you post Wilbs in your post. This is too cute! Live the ditty bag, as I call them, I’ll have to try.
