December Color Challenge Block
It is December 1st, and that means I can show you my December Color Challenge Block for the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Patterns by Jen. Can you believe we are in the last month of 2021 – and our fun block of the month challenge is quickly coming to an end.
As you know, Jen’s inspiration for the blocks this year has been fruits and veggies, and December’s little veggie is the green olive. I had a little fun taking the above photo of my jalapeno-stuffed olives (yum!). I couldn’t get a photo I was satisfied with, so I plopped it into an app and came up this. It changes up the color of the olives a bit from my block, but it looks more festive than my plain old photo! Anyway, enough of that silliness – here’s my block:
I’ve chosen to make the 6.5″ blocks this year, and it has been so much fun. By the time you read this, my quilt top will likely be all pieced together, and I cannot wait to show it to you soon!
This is the last month of the Quarter 4 sponsors, too. They help make this block of the month challenge even more fun by providing some lovely prizes, so thank you to each and every one of the sponsors for 2021. Here’s the Quarter 4 sponsors once again:
I’m sure you’d like to see some other olive blocks for December, so pop over to the others who are posting their blocks today. Just click on their name to get to their post.

Love the block and your perfect fabrics Wendy. Your olive photo from the app is too much fun.

You really captured that olive green with your fabric choices. It’s always so nice to finish a set of blocks, but it’s sad too cause it’s done. As far as liking olives, I like black olives but not the green ones.

Ahh green my fav colour, your block looks great with those olive greens!

Hey I have that green with the circles in my stash too!! As an adult I discovered I like the green olives, but I didn’t as a kid.

I love seeing these color challenge blocks each time. I see that it’s a project that’s coming to an end. Well, that’s okay. It leaves room for whatever the next adventure in fabrics will be.

Great fabric choices…can’t wait to see the finished quilt! 🙂

I love olives but do not seem to eat them often for some reason – don’t know why they are usually in the refrigerator

I’m excited to see it all sewn together too! Yes, I love olives of all kinds.

Hi Wendy! I love your block and I love olives. Both the green and black varieties. That a pretty darn cool pixelated photo the app created of the olives! I can’t wait to see your quilt top of this year’s blocks. Great job! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

This is such an appropriate pattern and colour — I can almost taste those stuffed green olives. Can’t wait to see the monthly blocks made into a quilt top

That’s a neat photo of the olives! And I love your staging of this block. Wow on already piecing it together! I can’t wait to see it.

I don’t like olives at all, but I love the color olive green, lol! Your fabric choices are perfect for this block, Wendy! It will be fun to see what you do with your Color Challenge blocks for this year.
