Doll Quilts and Gowns
I’ve made a few doll quilts and gowns, doll hospital gowns, that is. One thing I’ve learned about myself as I quilt (and in other areas of my life), is that when I have a project I should be working on, I seem to find other fun little projects while I procrastinate. So with a bunch of quilt blocks to get up on my design wall, I thought it would be a grand time to whip up these little projects.
You can see the first two doll quilts I made at the end of this post. While pulling out fat quarters for the hospital gowns, I realized that I could make one more doll quilt with a couple of fat quarters from a bundle.
It’s brighter than it looks in the photo. I added a Grunge border to get it to 23″ square. I had this cute fish fabric that was perfect for the backing.
I took this photo of the doll quilt a few days after it was finished, and if you look closely, you can see that I did finally get those quilt blocks up on the design wall. I’ll share more on those in another post.
I made 10 doll hospital gowns using this free pattern from Read Creations. The gowns use a fat quarter of fabric and a little bias tape. Once I got started making them, it was hard to stop. They go together very quickly and easily. I had fun looking for fabric. Here are a few of my favorites.
I think the little bunnies peeking out on this fabric are so cute!
All of these have been packaged up and sent on their way to Amy at A Doll Like Me. If you’d like to make some doll quilts, doll hospital gowns, or both, I know Amy would be delighted. Leave a comment and I’ll get you the information if you are interested.

Those are so precious, love the bunnies and that fish fabric is too much! 😀 I can see why you got distracted. I’m in the midst of a distraction too. 😉

Some little ones are going to be so happy to get a doll with those little gowns. That’s a good feeling when we create something that will be appreciated and loved by someone.

A great little squirrel for you! Did you use regular batting in the doll quilts? She excepts these all year long, right? Another scrap buster for batting scraps perhaps.

That bunny fabric is adorable. I follow her page on Facebook. A great service she’s performing.

Fabulous job! It is funny how once you start on a “quick diversion” you can get a lot done. The sneak peek on the wall looks great, too.

These are darling, Wendy! I love that splash fabric, and the bunnies are too much. Some little people are going to be very appreciative!

I made a few doll quilts and hospital gowns for A Doll Like Me a few years ago – they’re such fun projects! Yours are cute as can be, Wendy, and will be loved and appreciated. I’m a good procrastinator, too – especially when I *should* be doing something else!

What fun fabrics for the hospital gowns; the stripes with the rabbits peaking out is so sweet and seems perfect. I’m sure Amy will be happy to receive everything you sent her, and I suspect you’ll get many more people making items to send to her, too. 🙂

Late I can comment…. You had a chance to sew and the result is very adorable. The gowns will give joy and fun and help to make children a little bit happier.
Ohhh yes, the little rabbit fabric is adorable!!!
You are working down Mt. Fatquarter I guess a little bit.
Procrastination is well known here as well… but may be it is only when a thing is not completely as we like it and something keep us away to go on.
At my job no chance to procast… and I have to kick myself in my … and say.. eat the frog first.
I ate a lot of frogs this week so no no no sewing. Time for nothing… unfortunately!

These are so cute – heartwarming and heart-breaking at the same time. I have saved the pattern for the times when I don’t have enough things to procrastinate the project that I must 🙂 Have a good weekend, Wendy.
