Dreami Mini quilt
Sandra at mmmQuilts! has hosted the DrEAMi! linky party for quite awhile now, and I frequently miss the link up due to lack of planning. My DrEAMi Mini Quilt is finished, and once again I’m sneaking in just under the deadline.
In my last post, I shared my progress on the little Kim Diehl mini I’ve been working on. After flipping one row and adding the borders, this DrEAMi! mini quilt is now done.
This pattern was an exclusive pattern that came in a Sew Sampler box from The Fat Quarter Shop. The pattern is called Star Twist. The Kim Diehl fabric is Helping Hands. This little quilt measures 21 inches square.
This photo is better for showing the warm colors of the fabrics, which is one of the reasons I like Kim Diehl fabrics.
I did simple diagonal quilting, just following the star centers and points. The lines didn’t wobble too much, as long as my thoughts didn’t begin to wander!
The backing fabric was not included in the kit, so I pulled a Thimbleberries plaid fabric from my stash, and it worked really well.
The binding is done in strips from the fabric bundle and added a fun finish to the quilt.
One More DrEAMi Project
I have one more DrEAMi quilt to complete the third squirrel for the month. I’m not sure I’ll get it finished by the end of January, however. I have another project that needs to be finished by February 1st, and that will have all of my attention this week, but more on that later.
This little quilt pattern is called Star Crossed Love and was designed by Jedi Craft Girl. Last fall, I won some red scraps from Mary at Academic Quilter, and all the hearts are from those scraps. I used tan/cream fabrics for my background rather than white, to give it a little more warmth that will tie into my living room decor a bit better.
The next step for this project is to pull a backing and binding from my stash and get this quilted before mid-February.
Linking up today with Sandra at mmmQuilts!, Tish at TishnWonderland, and Beth at Cooking Up Quilts.
Are you making a Valentine’s Day quilt?

Very nicely done! I love minis and I am now starting to sew some of Kim Diehl’s patterns. I have one almost completed.

Very cute quilts. Great quilting on the stars. Sometimes a diagonal grid is just perfect.
piecefulwendy
Thanks! I like the grid too. It just seemed to work.

I don’t think there are any valentine’s quilts in my que. I have 2 blocks to do and some parts for Sherry’s SAL. I also need to get my pattern done as well as blog for tomorrow’s getaway. Then, plain my mini for Feb….but as it isn’t Feb maybe I can start a squirrel!!!
piecefulwendy
I think you can sneak a squirrel in there!!

Both of your squirrel projects are just great, Wendy! The quilting you did on the stars is perfect for it. I especially love the heart mini – will have to go check out that pattern!

Thanks, Diann! Let me know if you make the heart mini.

Both adorable little quilts. I also love Kim Diehl’s fabrics. Looking forward to seeing Star Crossed Love finished. Those fabrics are beautiful as well.

Ohh, your Kim Diehl mini is wonderful! I really like the way you quilted it Wendy. She does have some of the best colors in her fabrics.

Hi Wendy, that’s a great little squirrel project – I managed to miss the deadline but wrote the post. So now it’ll have to just be a regular post. Life is just too busy! BTW, if you want your comments to be received by those who wrote them, you have to click on the “Reply” button underneath the original comment. It took me ages to figure that out, so I thought you might appreciate the tip!
piecefulwendy
I did know that, but never knew if it went back to them. Thanks!

Such a beautiful little DrEAMi! project, and so is the hearts one – gosh the downside of hosting is that I get so TEMPTED, and get mad that I can’t just follow the squirrel trails you people all leave me! Dratted sewing for fabric companies, LOL. So glad you linked up!
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Sandra! I know, all the inspiration brings on the squirrels! I love that!

Hi Wendy,
Do you have any idea where I might find/purchse a copy of Kim Diehl’s Star Twist pattern? Fat Quarter Shop does not have any to sell and it was an exclusive pattern, I can’t find a copy anywhere. Thank you!
