Eva’s SAHRR Border 1
Eva’s SAHRR border 1 is done for her Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) quilt. She got pretty creative this week and came up with something really fun! If you’d like to see Eva’s center block before she added the border, you can see it here.
Kathleen gave us options this week – to make a King’s Cross block or to make a block with a name that started with the initial of your name. Eva and I chatted a bit about the border prompt; sometimes our American language and slang can be confusing for her, so we talked it through until she had a good understanding of what the border should be. When we talked about a border using a block with the initial of her name, I gave an example as “Economy Block”. That made Eva curious, so she found some videos on how to make an Economy Block and had some fun learning something new! I always enjoy hearing how she thinks through her idea and then comes up with fabric to use. This is her center block and first border.
Isn’t that fun? Her quilt now measures 15 inches square. She used a freezer paper method for the border. She says the block is not as wonky, wild, and scrappy as she had planned, but the task was “economy“ and she wanted to match the corners exactly. I love the mix of fabrics and color!
Thanks for stopping by to see Eva’s SAHRR Border 1. I hope you’ve enjoyed creating your borders this week and maybe, like Eva, learned something new! You can see all the other first borders posted at the linky party over at Kathleen McMusing. Don’t forget to link your border up this week so we can see your creativity, too!
Happy Stitching!

You and Eva are off to a great start with your blocks and chosen colors. They are both fun to look at.
Eva
Thank you Katherine, it makes so much fun to work together – even it is not personal and “only” virtual, but it is fantastic to work together with Wendy.

You and Eva are stitching up a storm (sorry Eva for the slang phrase)! Both of your creations are delightful to watch evolve.
Eva
Hi Laura, it’s ok – i understand the meaning, if you translate word by word . would be a funny sentences.
Yes it makes much fun working together. And – I really want to go out of the box this time.
Another phrase I know – and if you translate word by word .. funny!

LOVE Eva’s block! I think the Economy block is a great block (but it has a woeful name), and it is perfect for this pretty block.
Eva
Thank you for commenting, yes it is great to learn and it will be using it may be more in other projects.
The Joyful Quilter
It might not be as wonky as she would have preferred, but it certainly is wild with that big bold print! Nice work, Eva.
Eva
Thank you for your comment. May be in the next prompts there are chances to be more scrappy and wonky. We will see. Love your paper work on your page. Do the same sometimes! It great to use fabric and paper. Now I have a new sewing machine and can use my old one for this paper work and scrappy paper books with tags with ribbons and fabric.

Lovely work Eva. The contrast between those black and white fabrics with the classic Fassett is fabulous. It is very neat too!
Eva
Thank you so much Mariss! Yes – I think it is nothing new .. there was a time a lot of people worked with that fabrics . but I love it.

This is fantastic, Eva! Great job on the Economy block!
Eva
Brenda, thank you so much! Your geometrical blogs are stunning. I do not know if I would have patience for this. Now I did “economy” – do we have “premium economy” and “first class” … lol :-))
