February Challenge Block
Well, what a weekend for sewing! BigJ was gone to a ski race on Friday and Saturday, so Wilbur and I had plenty of time in the sewing room. Then a snowstorm blew through Sunday morning, so church was canceled. What else was there to do but more sewing?!
What did I sew? I made a pin cushion, and a quilt top, but I can’t show you either of them – yet. I can show you my February Challenge Block though.
Patterns by Jen is hosting the 2020 Monthly Color Challenge, and there is still time to join in. You can read about the challenge here. On the first of each month, Jen sends out the block instructions; once the month passes, you can purchase them from Jen for a small fee.
This year, Jen is using birds for her inspiration when choosing colors and blocks. For February, she has chosen the Indigo Bunting. You can read some interesting facts about this beautiful little bird in Jen’s post.
Here’s my block, using teal fabrics from my stash.
I enjoy this monthly challenge because the blocks are easy and relaxing to do. Having the entire month to complete the block makes it a fun, no stress project. At the end of the month, Jen offers a link up to show off your block. If you have participated in the link up, you are eligible for a quarterly drawing. More information and a list of the sponsors is on Jen’s site.
If you want to see my January block, you can see it here.
Well, BigJ is back home, we’ve dug a path out of the snow, I’ve got my February Challenge Block done, and now it’s time to head back to my quilt room to finish some more projects. Who’s with me?
Enjoy your day, my friends!
Wendy

Quilting is in my Blood
What a lovely block. Teal and turquoise are two of my very favorite colors. And that bird is absolutely gorgeous! Have a great day, Mary.

Hi Wendy! Oooh, such a pretty block for February. And two whole days to yourself with only Wilbur to keep you out of trouble?!! We all know he’s a troublemaker himself . . . so I can only imagine the fun you had. I love this SAL with Jen for the same reasons you list – the pace is just perfect for no stress. ~smile~ Roseanne

Sounds like a fabulous weekend! We got snow on Friday and it was so fun to watch it fall so beautifully and know that I didn’t have to go out in it. But it’s all gone now – we had rain last night. Teal is one of my favorite colors and it looks so nice in your block. I’m looking forward to seeing your new pincushion!

Pretty Grunge colors and block, Wendy! I enjoyed a full studio day yesterday, too. I’ll be in and out of the studio today. Can’t wait to see your quilt top!

I think if I lived north I would always have a fully stocked kitchen and rarely leave house and yard when it snowed 🙂

Your Color Challenge block is great, Wendy! I love the two different shades of Grunge you used. I’ve just started on my block – maybe it will get finished this week! Glad you enjoyed your sewing weekend.

You are such a tease!! How long do we have to wait for the reveal of the secret projects? Well you redeemed yourself a bit by at least showing us your Feb. block;)

Your block turned out really nice! I stitched mine, now I need to blog it and that probably won’t happen in time to link up. Oh well! Maybe in March 🙂

Nice block, and nice points too, I like teal. I’m more interested in seeing what you are hiding, intriguing!

You inspired me to join in on yet another project this year! I’ll be sewing my first two blocks this weekend.
