Friday Bits and Pieces
I have bits and pieces to share with you today, of things I’m working on in my little corner of the world.
Sandra (mmmQuilts) hosted a 30 Quilt Designs in 30 Days Challenge on Instagram, and I joined in on the fun. I thought 30 designs in 30 days would be fairly simple, but I lagged a bit mid-way through, so I didn’t get a picture posted every day, but I did get 30 designs done. One of those designs became my Droplets quilt.
This is a photo of my 29th design, and I’ve named it Sunrise, Sunset. I drew this while I was watching a show and quickly colored in it with my colored pencils.
Thanks to the leftover fabric from my Postcard from Sweden quilt, I realized I had all the fabrics I’d need for this quilt. I pulled these fabrics out to play with.
I have the HSTs in the works. If the weekend plays out like the weatherman is predicting, I may have plenty of time to finish this. We are expecting another snowstorm, with a significant amount of snow, rain, ice and wind. I am hoping it doesn’t come. I have a Spin Class on Saturday that I don’t want to miss! Anyway, I’ll have more details and the story behind this quilt soon.
Speaking of the Spin Class, I agreed to make a little gift for Amanda Jean at Spin Class on Saturday. I found this cute Small Treat Tote (free) pattern on All People Quilt. It is quick and easy to make. The only thing I added was to use fusible fleece to give it a bit more sturdiness. The fabric is from my stash, and I found the ribbon for the handles at World Market. The finished size is 4″ x 4″ x 2″. I’ll be making more of these, they are really fun to sew!
The pin cushion is a little improv piece. It’s about 2 inches square. And yes, I taste tested the chocolate. It was necessary, just in case the Sea Salt Caramel didn’t meet my standards.
New Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop 2018
Come back and visit my blog on Monday, when I will share my quilting story with my fellow bloggers in this blog hop. There will be giveaways, so come back for more details!
So tell me, do you like to make gifts bags? If so, do you have a favorite pattern?
Enjoy your weekend, my friends!

Hi Wendy,
Have FUN on Saturday. Boo on the additional snow – we have it forecast for the weekend as well. I have really enjoyed watching all the different blocks pop up on IG. I can’t wait to see all your HSTs come together for Sunrise, Sunset. Handy that you had all that leftover fabric! I’ll be back, visiting on Monday for sure. ~smile~ Roseanne

Oh Amanda will love that little basket and pincushion! I hope you get to go. We had her speak and do trunk show at our guild a few years ago, very enjoyable. You are turning into a real designer-I encourage you to go for it!

I love your sunrise and sunset! I can’t wait to see it come to life!!! I’m not happy about traveling back in the snow, but hopefully I don’t get stuck!

Cute little gift bag. I make them occasionally, but I’m famous for regifting people with their own gift bags. I have made one a couple of times. It’s a little “fabric gift pouch” from the Spoonful of Sugar blog. My favorite, however, not actually a bag is the wine waiter pattern. You’ll see it if you google it. Very cute and it takes about an hour to make one.

Great to hear you are making one of your 30 designs. And I’ll be back to find out more about your quilting story on Monday! 🙂

Your gifts for Amanda Jean are adorable! Just her style, too. They sure are making Saturday sound scary around here. What will be, will be.

I’m so glad you’re going to stitch up this design! It’s one of my faves from your 30 🙂

I can’t wait to see your design come to life! I love the colors. I would love to make bags as gifts, but I’ve never mastered the art of bag making 🙁 I will definitely be back on Monday 🙂

I tend not to make gift bags. You are working on such a nice assortment of things and I look forward to seeing another of your quilts come to life.

So fun that the chocolate wrappers coordinate with the project! I’ve so enjoyed seeing your designs in IG each day!

So much fun! You did great with the challenge – me not so much. The gift for Amanda Jean is so cute…the handles are perfect. Sunrise Sunset will be fun to see completed. I have not even thought about making any of mine!

Very fun quilt pattern. Sunrise, sunset is the perfect name. World Market is such a fun place to shop. I think I’ve been to 3, maybe 4, in the Phoenix area looking for some specific hooks that I bought a couple of years ago and didn’t buy enough. Taste testing is required, even of chocolate, just like snuggle testing a quilt before gifting. Looking forward to reading your post next week.
