Friday Fun

This week was a little off with the holiday and other things happening, unrelated to quilting. I planned to get a post done on Wednesday, but spent the day at the Twins game on Tuesday (it was hot and the game was long) so I had nothing to post about.

Now that Friday is here, I thought I’d introduce you to a new, hopefully temporary, member of our household. Meet Fred.

Fred and I are getting to know each other. I’m not sure I like him much. He’s a bit cumbersome and messes with my fashion statement.

Back in April (yes, April) I sprained my ankle while we were in New Mexico. We did all the things you should do for a sprain, except go to the doctor (because we thought it was just a bad sprain, y’know?). This week, 4 months later, I decided I should ask the doctor why the swelling wasn’t going away and find out what stretches I should be doing now that it felt good enough that I should be able to start my daily walking again. I came home with Fred and a possible fractured fibula. Another doctor appointment next Tuesday. Thankfully, it’s not my sewing foot! I’m not sure if this is Friday Fun, so let’s move on to the fun part.

When I have been doing some sewing, it’s been mostly secret sewing. Here’s a peek at the fabric I’m playing with. This little project will be for the 12 Days of Christmas in July Blog Hop, which starts on July 14th. Watch for my post onĀ July 17. I hope you’ll stop by and see what I’ve been working on.

When I have deadlines and I get overwhelmed, I start a whole new project, totally unrelated to anything. Do you do that? Please say yes. Here’s what I decided to start on over the weekend, thinking I could get it done in a day or two. I’m itching to finish it, but it needs to wait for now. You may need your sunglasses, this fabric is bright!

Stay tuned, friends. Fred and I will be back soon. I expect he’ll be around for awhile. We’ll see!

Enjoy your weekend! I hope it’s full of stitching!

Oh, dear. I’m sorry Fred has come to visit. He’s helpful, but awkward. But it is good news that he won’t live on your sewing foot!

Yes, I often start new projects when I really should be hunkering down to finish an old one. But who can blame you? Look at those lovely bright fabrics!

Hope you won’t need Fred for long.
I often start new projects in the middle of something else – it’s normal isn’t it???

Hope your ankle is better soon, Wendy, how frustrating to have to lug Fred around. Looking forward to seeing you Christmas project. I’ve been doing a bit of festive designing myself!

YES, I do the same thing–start a new project! I hope the swelling starts to diminish now. Doctor appointments are such an intrusion on quilting time! I know ‘cuz I have 2 next week.

Wendy, So sorry to hear about your ankle issue and your new companion Fred. I am glad Fred doesn’t get in the way of your sewing foot. With that being said, I had to switch my sewing foot once because of an injury, and my feet made the transition quite nicely. I can’t wait to see what you do with those Christmas fabrics. –Andrea

I hope Fred’s visit turns out to be very helpful, but I hope he doesn’t stay long. Oh you are a tease, secret sewing, it is so exciting!!! The answer to your question is sometimes, I also go into headless chicken mode where I get everything out, look at it, play with it, and don’t get anything done. At times like these I can’t make a decision to save my life. Deep breaths keep calm and just do it.

UGH! Sorry about your new companion, but glad you are taking care of yourself. Yes, I do start new projects but I think downsizing is curing me of it!

I’m not sure I really like Fred…….his personality is a bit dark! Those fabrics really do make me run for the ‘shades’…lol And, yes, when I’m most under some insane schedule, I will start a stash dig for something totally unrelated to what I should be working on. I don’t believe I’ve come across anyone else with such impulses!!! Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Oh man, that Fred looks like a nuisance. Does your leg feel better when you have it to support you? Hoping you heal quickly. I bet this has been really bugging you all these weeks.
I love all the Christmas in July activity. It is fun to look at all of the ideas before the rush of the holidays.
