Friday Tidbits
I just have a few little Friday tidbits for you today. We celebrated a quiet Thanksgiving along with battling colds, so it’s been a little unproductive around here. I have been doing a little stitching here and there, so thought I’d share some of it with you.
Moda Blockheads 2
My progress on these blocks is pretty slow lately. I think I’m behind about 6 blocks. These four are the last that I have completed. Maybe I can get a little caught up this weekend.
Summertime Sampler BOM
I’m keeping up with these bright, cheerful blocks. The pace of this is pretty low key, with one block coming each month. The block in the top of the photo measures 16-1/2 inches; the other two are 12-1/2 inches.
Flaked Out
I’ve been working on a couple of designs for my sister-in-law, one of which includes snowflakes. Coming up with a snowflake design I was happy with took awhile, but it was fun to cut some snowflakes again. I just might make a few more!
One More Tomte
If you are tired of seeing the tomte photos, you can skip ahead. I thought I’d sneak my latest tomte in here. You may have already been introduced if you follow me on Instagram.
This is Olaf, who thought it might be wise to wear his blaze orange while finding the Christmas tree during hunting season in a near blizzard. He was quite happy with his choice of tree, and that his lantern held out for the whole time!
So that’s about all I’ve been up to, other than napping and watching some Christmas shows. I’m feeling much better, so I hope to have a more productive weekend.
Oh, and (fingers crossed) Monday I will be showing you my Fat Quarter Shop Meringue Quilt, so stop by and take a peek. The reveal has been postponed for quite some time due to a typhoon delaying some shipments to Fat Quarter Shop. I’m excited to share the quilt with you!
Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
Wendy

Lovely tidbits — I especially like the snowflakes.

Olaf is adorable! The summertime sampler is really pretty. Will the snowflake be a pattern for a quilt?
Always enjoy getting to see your work, thanks Wendy : )

OK Wendy, you are an over achiever with a cold! In spite of sniffling and watching Christmas shows, you appear to be highly productive! Olaf is my fave and I will never get tired of seeing him or his buddies. It seems like each one you make is even cuter than the previous one…if that is even possible!

Wow I am really impressed with your snowflake making-all just cut on the fly making it up and seeing what it looks like? Or do you have a secret on making them. Love your sampler blocks especially the lower right one. I love the story you made up for the tomte!

I love the variety in your projects! I don’t recall seeing the summer sampler blocks before; they’re very pretty. I’m glad you have an Olaf in the mix—very fitting with St. Olaf in your neighborhood. Thanks for all the happy eye candy today!
My Sewful Retirement
Wendy, I love the snowflakes — I’m hoping to get made myself. I hope you are feeling better… I was sick after Thanksgiving also so I understand the slow moving:) Take care!

That’s some seriously cute snowflakes! Wondering what your SIL is going to do with them… Love your Tomte in blaze!!!

It looks like the cold hasn’t been holding you back Wendy. You are making lots of progress. I love those snowflakes.

I love the colors you are using for your sampler blocks – you have been one busy quilter

You’ve been busy despite fighting a cold. The snowflakes look great!

Hi, Olaf! You must be related to my husband, Mr. Safety Vest 🙂
I’d love to learn more about the snowflakes. Are they fabric or paper? Do you have a technique you can share to make them? SO pretty!
Melanie McNeil
I cut a lot of snowflakes and other shapes in the same process last winter. Very much fun, and very inspiring. Enjoy!

Hi Wendy! Olaf is just the cutest tomte! I love his blaze orange – better to be safe than sorry. It looks like he got the best tree in the forest, or at least one that is in his size range. Glad you’re feeling better. It’s the pits to get sick around the holidays, but now you’ve got it over with and out of your system. Happy Happy Friday to you, friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

Wow who knew a typhoon could affect stuff on the other side of the world…goes to show how connected we really are. Love your Tomte, and those snowflakes–!! Wow! Are you going to appliqué them? Did you use Steam a Seam or the modpodge method? Love the summery sampler blocks! Glad you’re starting to feel better; it’s a nasty time of year to be under the weather. (okay just now looking at that phrase and just what exactly does that mean??!!) I’ve been watching a Christmas movie every night and loving it!

Love Olaf – would tomte be whimical enough? Maybe I’ll do more than one project. Glad you have are on the mend. I hate when I get slowed down although your slowing down looks mighty productive to me. Snowflakes are the best – tried to draw some in EQ8 this week – not so successful. Have great week!

I enjoyed getting a peek at what you’ve been working on! Olaf is pretty fun – I actually haven’t made him yet. I’m finishing up the ones I have made into a pillow for a gift, but maybe I will make an Olaf just for myself!
