Fruity Finish

I have a fruity finish to share with you today, and a UFO to boot! I finally finished my pineapple quilt which has been languishing in my UFO stack for ages.

My version of Pineapple Tidbits, a pattern by Buggy Barn from the Certifiably Crazy book - piecefulthoughts.com

This is one quilt I’ve been wanting to finish for so long. (The pattern is Pineapple Tidbits, a Buggy Barn quilt from their book, Certifiably Crazy.) I kept thinking I needed to be able to do some fun free motion quilting, but I finally gave that up. I hadn’t done any wavy quilting for awhile, and I think that worked pretty well. The quilt finishes to an odd size, 33″ x 38″. I could’ve added borders (the pattern doesn’t), but it will work in the space I have planned for it. I still need to make the rod pocket, which may take me another century – haha!

Back when I had the top finished, I had two pineapple blocks left over. I had planned to make a mini quilt with them. However, I opted to piece the backing, and I’m so happy I did. I almost like the backing better than the front!

I used Kona Orange for the backing fabric, and I think it is a nice background for those pineapple blocks. I used Hobbs 80/20 for the batting, and the wavy quilting is done with my AcuFeed foot using Aurifil 50 wt. thread in Bright Orange (#2145).
