I Like Thursday
It’s Thursday, and that means it’s time for another I Like Thursday post. For those of you who are new to my blog (and I’m so glad you are here!), I like Thursday posts are part of a group who meet up over at Not Afraid of Color. We share things that we find during the week that we’d like to share with one another, quilt-related or not. It might be things that made us chuckle, a cherished memory, goofy photos of our pets, whatever. You can find the list of all who participate at Not Afraid of Color. If you’d like to join in, just let LeeAnna know.
Lately, LeeAnna has been giving us a theme to touch on in our posts. This week she wants to know my favorite color. I had to share the above photo of the sunset, because I love all the colors of the sunset. The warmth of those colors, and the feeling of peace when I soak it in.
Well, those of you who have followed me for any length of time know that I love the color orange.
This quilt is a Buggy Barn pattern called Pineapple Tidbits (found in Buggy Barn’s book, Certifiably Crazy). While the blocks went together quickly, it took me forever to finish the quilt. Anyway – I love all the orange in this quilt, and it makes me happy to see it when I walk into the room. You can read more about the finish and other details here. One of my other favorite things is also in that photo – those happy sunflowers! That is a painting done by my friend, Helen. You can find Helen over at Word Weaver Art – go check out her amazing work!
Although I love the color orange, I do not wear it. It doesn’t complement my skin tones well. So I just surround myself with it. In fact, my downstairs bathroom is painted in an intense red-orange, and I love it.
The Weekly Wilbs
If you give a cat a box . . . of course, I had to share one of my other favorite orange things – Wilbs is definitely a favorite around here! He always gets a highlight in my Thursday posts, and I try to catch a photo of him doing silly cat things, like napping in a box.
Happy Thursday, all! Thanks for stopping by to read my I like Thursday post!

Love your sunset picture and your other orange faves! I love the pineapple quilt, and of course, whats not to love about the orange one….Wilbur!

Wonderful color orange, it’s everywhere even in the winter sunsets. My favorite color is nature greens.
Happy Thursday.

Lovely orange pineapples, Wilbs fits right in.
Karen
love that pineapple

What a fun little quilt. I love that modern take on pineapples. Wilbur looks pretty chill.

I just love your orange nook. I looked and looked at the first photo… and I notice the intense golden focal point which is made better by the quiet gray greens and bits of lavender and pink in the sky. A lot like your pineapples in color in fact.

Orange is a tricky color for many of us to wear and pull off. Wilbs, however, wears it perfectly!

While I don’t write the Thursday posts, I can tell you my like for today…Sunshine!! What would we do without Wilbs to entertain us!! I do love those pineapples too.

That’s a beautiful sunset photo, Wendy – perfect to illustrate the color orange! So is your pineapple quilt and Wilbur, too. You get the most fun photos of him! I love orange, too, but never realized that I did until I started sewing with it!

Love that Wilbs photo. And the pineapples. The sunset is really lovely. As I’ve said before, I love all the colors as long as they are bright!!

AWWW! I was just talking about baby in a box and here is one better! Wilbs . . . that box looks a bit uncomfortable. Next time hold out for the cushioning that often comes in boxes. You deserve nothing less, my favorite kitty. LOVE the orange pineapples, Wendy. That has to make you smile. I have a red-orange office that sports maps – I love that color, too, but hardly ever wear it. Happy Thursday to you! {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

I love your pineapple quilt and credit you with helping appreciate orange quilts. And now I’m remembering the orange paint you, Becky and I applied to the Sunday school room walls. Wow, we had energy back then!

LOVE that sunset photo, Wendy, and your fun pineapple quilt, too!

Hey, do you remember our foxy lady t-shirts we used to walk around town in? Yours was orange I think and mine was yellow. Orange isn’t your color and yellow is not mine! We must have been quite the sight!

All your comments make me smile today. I had the same impression, Wilbs looks like: “hey – isn’t there a bigger box with more comfort for me?” no question that Wilbs four is orange!!! If I look at my boxes of fabric pink and orange are a lot, and last week-end I saw shows pink and orange….
The pineapple quilt is so nice and the modern sewing makes him so interesting. It is very good to know which colours matches the skin and type well. love this post so much – orange means energy ! We need this in this January grey days.

Pineapple Tidbits is fun! Wilbur – you make that box look comfy.

Orange is such a vibrant, warm colour. Perhaps you love Wilbur so very much because he is orange ?!

I’m an orange and black combo fan (Go Pokes!). Your pineapple quilt is really cute and bold. A winning combination. Wills doesn’t look amused at being disturbed during his nap time. Have a great weekend.

I don’t wear a lot of orange, but it’s hard to find good orange on good clothing. LOL

Love your Pineapple Tidbits! Orange has grown on me over the years. I don’t wear it either, but there’s plenty of it in our home and I really enjoy incorporating it in my sewing.
