I Like Thursday 47
It’s Thursday, so I’m here with my I Like Thursday 47 post. Each week I join in with LeeAnna from Not Afraid of Color and other blogging friends as we share little things that bring us joy, gratefulness and laughter. We’d love it if you would join us!
Today’s post will start and end with Wilbur, my cat. He loves to explore, as you can see by the photo above. I had pulled out one of my project bins, and he thought it was a nifty place to crawl into.
Wilbur had a little excitement this week. No, not the trip to the vet; that all went just fine and we’ll just not talk about that, he says. The big excitement came when BigJ and our two adult kids returned home from a camping trip. While they were unloading camping gear into our garage, two little stray kittens showed up. They were very friendly, but one definitely needed some vet attention, so we didn’t bring them in, and we were careful to wash up and change clothes before handling Wilbs. We kept them in the garage overnight, gave them food, a warm blanket and cuddles. But what to do, especially on a holiday weekend?
Both my daughter and I were pondering — should she take them home with her? Should we get them checked by the vet and introduce them to Wilbur? At one point, I let Wilbur see them through the garage door window. He didn’t quite know what to think, but he had quite a bit to say about it.
Anyway, we contacted our neighbors and, thankfully, the kittens belonged to one of them. So they are back with their mama now, and Wilbur is still king of the Pieceful house!
What Kind of Bird is That??
I looked out our kitchen window the other day and was at first a bit puzzled about what I saw. A new breed of hummer? The really odd thing is trying to figure out how the branch got there. The tree it’s from is to the right of the feeder. It was breezy earlier that morning, so we think the branch must’ve blown from the tree, done a loop-de-loop and got stuck in the feeder.
New Art in My Town
I like this new mural in my town. The mural was recently completed by Brett Whitacre, an artist from Illinois. It’s lovely and vibrant (I would, however, like to remove the Domino’s domino).
Making Plans
I’m trying something new for 2021 as far as keeping track of my quilting projects and designs. I ordered a custom made notebook from JB Welly. After chatting with him, I sent him some fabric and he handmade this notebook for me. The pages are dotted so I can write notes or sketch designs. I’m looking forward to using it! And I love the yellow Blackwing pencil he tucked in for fun!
And finally, this I Like Thursday 47 post wouldn’t be complete without . . .
The Weekly Wilbs
Things were a bit quiet while the rest of the household was gone this weekend. Wilbur thought I needed breaks from sewing. How can you resist a face like that? Besides, I needed to wind a bobbin, and he was sitting right where I needed to be.
Thanks for sticking with me and this goofy I Like Thursday 47 post! I hope you have a delightful day!

I am sure Wilbur is pleased he still king of his castle. Your bespoke notebook is delicious and I am sure it will inspire you to make astounding things.

Oh that Wilbur always being so helpful. I like the wall mural.

A cat (and/or a dog) just makes a sewing room. The expressions on his face are priceless. Glad you found to whom the kittens belonged and hopefully they’ll take them to the vet for the attention the one needs anyhow. Murals are the best! (agreed on the domino but it wasn’t the first thing I saw so there’s that).

sometimes trying to introduce a new pet to the family is more trouble than it is worth – glad Wilbur is still king of the castle. Yes the domino’s part of the mural is a little out of place – they must have paid for the advertising!

I do enjoy the Wilbs. He has such a sweet face, and ginger cats are wonderful. My ginger Jack would envy his lithe figure.
I hope your neighbors will take care of that little kitten! My husband is hoping no strays show up where we are moving, since I can’t let one come around without adopting it.
Hope you are having a great week.

Yeh that domino kinda caught my eye right away, were they a sponsor? But wow those flowers are so gorgeous, what loveliness to gaze at during this bleak year. Oh Wilbur, he sure is the star at your house!! I was checking out your mini’s behind him. Does he like the cat mini?

A great week Wendy. Yes that domino needs to go!

LOVE that mural!!! Yes, remove the Dominos logo and make it a no parking zone in front of it!

why did the neighbor not get the kittens to the vet? I wonder did domino finance the mural? an artist would not want that symbol on their beautiful painting otherwise. Your notebook is glorious in it’s orange colorful fabric, and never saw a pencil like that. Wilbur… you know we love you….
Needle and Foot
OK – I agree with Leanne – I am sure the artist didn’t love having the dominos logo on that fantastic mural. I am curious why/how it ended up there.
Glad the kittens made it home but how did they get out and about anyway?
Silly Wilbur, you’re the best.
Wendy – love the quilts displayed behind the last pic of Wilbur. Beautiful.

That’s a beautiful mural! So glad the kitties’ owners were found. What a pretty notebook!

Such wonderful likes. That mural is beautiful and the artist is fabulous. Wilbur is such a love and has the best poses. Not sure which is better…the storage space or on top of the sewing machine. I love the quilts on your wall. I hope you do better than I on your journaling or sketching. Have a great week.

Sounds like you had a wonderful few days while everyone was camping! Love your beautiful notebook, the mural (except for the Domino logo 🤔) and the expression on Wills face. Looks like he is reminding you that he IS the king of the castle! 😄

Great likes! Love that mural and agree with you about the domino’s logo. Your notebook looks so pretty! How could you accomplish even more? I always envy how much you get done each week! Have a wonderful day!

Hi Wendy! Aww, Wilber is just a little sweetheart. He is hoot sitting on the shelf where the tote went and on top of your sewing machine. Yes indeed, you needed to give him so attention. Don’t you wonder what he thinks when he sees you pull out your camera?! He would smile if he could, for sure. So glad you found the home for the little kitties! I wonder how they got themselves over to your garage?! Take care and Happy Thursday! ~smile~ Roseanne

Super mural! And as always, I enjoy the weekly Wilbs updates 🙂

Lovely likes, Wendy. I especially enjoy Wilbur’s take on things in his life. Imagine little kittens straying like that. And that mural is a beauty. I got excited when I saw What kind of bird is this…thinking I would be learning a new one. LOL How neat to have a journal made for you and what a great plan to keep track of your projects like that. Hubby has pencils like that one and I thought it was an engineering thing.
Sally
That branch is so artful – I could imagine a bird of paradise. lol. That mural is beautiful.

Wilbur is a handsome cat! And I think he knows it! *Wink wink*. I liked seeing the wall behind Wilbur and your sewing machine! Lovely creations! I hope your journal works out for you, it certainly is lovely!

Wilbur is such a hoot! I love your photos of him – no empty space left unexplored! Glad you found who the kittens belonged to. That would be a sudden increase in the kitty population at your house. That is a wonderful mural you found! Of course, it must have a sponsor! 🙂 Hope you’ve had a lovely Thursday, Wendy!

Love your loves! I love the mystery on the hummingbird feeder. That new wall is fab. And, of course, Wilbs is so sweet and I am so glad his life was not upended by the interlopers!
Colette
Great pics of Wilbur, so he was not impressed with the kittens? We get to laughing, one of the small kittens (Haze) escapes out the door every chance she gets. But when she sees her mama she hisses and attacks. I like your hummingbird feeder and your exotic bird. The mural is fabulous, even with the Domino’s sign in it. Great likes, good to see you Wilbur.
Deana
The small quilts hanging on the wall behind Wilb are pretty neat and tidy. It looks like a great display of talent!
I loved the photo with the bird feeder – very interesting.
Thanks for the happy thoughts.
Mary
Thanks for sharing Will. That’s quite an artist in your town. I never even noticed the dominoes. LOL.
Sandi
Wilbur is so cute! I love the cat wallhanging on your wall.

Sounds like Wilbur had an adventurous week. Your new notebooks is very bright and fun, hopefully that will keep you from losing it. That’s always my problem.

Why, that is the American Feathered Flying Twig, native to northern regions but also sometimes migrates more southward. Loves hummingbird feeders but very rarely seen! You are blessed to have this sighting! . Oh Wilbur is sooo cute! My Chloe likes to sit on top of my machine as well–never an issue until her twitching tail pulls my thread out from one of the “catches” (what are all those things called?) and suddenly my tension is all off.
