I Like Thursday 48
In today’s I Like Thursday 48 post, I’m reminiscing a bit, digging up a few photos of things I still like, even though some time has passed. My Elephant Quilt is still one of my favorite quilts. The photo above is one of my favorites of all the elephants I stitched. You can see the full Elephant Quilt here.
If you’ve been following my blog, you know that each Thursday I post about a few things I like, have seen during the week, or that I’m grateful for. LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color hosts this fun little party, and there are several of us listed on LeeAnna’s blog. Feel free to stop over and read the other blogs too!
I like that fall has arrived and it’s time to bring out my fall decorations. This little pumpkin was designed and handmade by my high school classmate and friend, Sharon of SM Wollman Designs. She sells these little cuties, along with handmade acorns, on her site. Both items are made from vintage needlepoints. The pumpkins are posted each Thursday (today!) at 3 pm now through November 5th. If you’d like one, be quick – they go fast!
I like goofy things that make me laugh, and this glass is one of them. The company that sells them, Meriweather, has a whole line of them called “Misheard Lyrics”. I was torn between this one and one that said, “I’ve got two chickens to paralyze” – hahahaha! This one won, because I like the song and it reminds me of going to the Eurythmics concert years ago.
Beautiful quilting with colorful thread? What’s not to like? This is not my work, but Connie’s. It’s a little sneak peak for my Friday post.
The Weekly Wilbs
A flashback photo to 2019 when Wilbs was new to our home and enjoying a little exploring. Honestly, he still likes to help me load the dishwasher. Maybe we should have some caption fun with this photo – if you have a good one, share it in the comments!
I Like Thursday 48 is a wrap, my friends. Thanks for sticking with me and reading this post.
Enjoy your day!
Wendy

The photograph of your flowered elephant made me smile and I can see why it is your favourite quilt. Looking forward to Friday and to seeing more of the quilt with colourful thread

someone else was just finishing up that elephant quilt a week or so ago – I don’t remember seeing yours and it is lovely! I love the colors you used.

That pumpkin is very cute. Still to warm here to think of fall.

“Mom, I am ready for my wash. NOT” Wilbs s is so entertaining. Have a great finish to the end of your week. I always smile when I read your blogs.

I guess that Wilbs isn’t associating the dishwasher with water!!!

Hi Wendy! Oh – that elephant is fabulous. I missed this quilt – maybe it was before my time of following you. I am definitely going to skip over to read about the whole quilt. Love, love, LOVE that shot of Wilbur. What a sweet guy he is – I’m glad you two found each other. Happy Thursday to you, my friend. ~smile~ Roseanne

Lovely colorful stitching! My mom and I are big fans of misheard song lyrics. I do agree, sweet dreams are made of cheese!

Well, I totally love your little needlepoint pumpkin. It reminded me I have an unfinished needlepoint from my grandmother in one of the cedar chests downstairs. The threaded needle is still stuck in the piece from where she put it the last time she worked on it. Maybe I’ll dig it out. I wonder if your friend would like to have it. As I’m writing that, though, I realize that every time I open that chest and all my grandmothers things come out, they make me anxious as I wonder what to do with all of it. I’m thinking that quilt made of doilies and dresser scarves needs to get a start so I can ease my mind a little.

I like elephant quilts to; Jennifers Sampou’s is one of my favourites. I love that mug…ahhh, the Eurythmics. I love that you love them and went to a concert of theirs! I did not though I played their songs on a cassette a LOT! Silly Wilbur, no caption comes to mind.

I love your elephant quilt! What a project – lots of stitching! And I love the pumpkin, too. That glass is hilarious – I’m going to need to check out what else is available. Trying to think of a caption for your weekly Wilbur – something like, “Let me out, Mom!” He is definitely an explorer! But, then, maybe all cats are? Have a great day, Wendy!

Great photos and likes. I particularly like the coffee mug because I am forever mishearing lyrics (if I can understand any part of them, it’s nothing short of a miracle). I thinks that quilting is eye candy and can’t wait to see your post tomorrow. Wilbur, such an amazing cat. He has the brightest eyes!

I might need that glass, I’m pretty sure that sweet dreams are made of cheese… and crackers. Meanwhile, “The accused stared from his cell wondering when he might next be free to roam outside again.” >^^<

I am the worst (or is it best) ever at mondegreens!!!
(mondegreen – a misunderstood or misinterpreted word or phrase resulting from a mishearing of the lyrics of a song)

That elephant is seriously cool! The mug makes me chuckle. Good song. Good post – it made me smile!
Quilting is in my Blood
Wilbur looks like he’s hoping something will be put in the dishwasher that he might be able help with the cleaning by licking it clean! I love your elephant quilt. What kind of applique did you do? It is so subtle. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Or that famous Creedence line, “There’s a bathroom on the right.” Thanks for the giggle 🙂

Connie’s colorful quilting is so pretty! THe elephant is so pretty as well. I love the trees that seem to be quilting in around it.

I loved your elephants from the beginning! So so pretty! I think Wilbur is stating the obvious! “ you loaded the dishwasher wrong, again! Momma”
I’m off the check out the other available misheard lyrics! Thanks for the fun post!

I went to the Meriwether site and laughed out loud reading some of their captions! Wow that elephant quilt is so pretty and unique. I also went to the reproduction fabric site and wish I was not in a self-imposed non-fabric buying position right now. 😉 Thanks for the glimpse of Wilbur!

Loved seeing your elephant. I have Edyta’s pattern to make an elephant quilt someday…I was thinking for the littler grandson. Great quilting, Wendy. I too love the misheard lyrics and yes, Sweet Dreams is still on my exercise list. We all need a laugh. Wilbur is the cutest!

“You really should clean under this top rack once in a while!” Oh he’s so cute! I love that cup–my hubs would agree, and he’s always liked that song.

Thanks Wendy the chuckles are really appreciated today. Love the elephant Quilt and pumpkin creation. Wills looked like he watching to make sure you don’t start the dishwasher “Just Don’t Mom!”
Colette
The elephant is fabulous. Love the quilting too. Great pic of Wilbs, what is it about animals and dishwashers. Great likes.

I love the elelphant (and thought I commented days ago!). That’s what happens when I am in a row along. See you Monday in the HelloFall hop…I am working hard to finish mine today. Wilbur is a funny cat!
