Pieceful Life

I Like Thursday 52

I Like Thursday 52 is starting off with this beautiful view from our drive along Needles Highway in the Black Hills. It’s to remind me of the lovely weather on that trip, as I look out my window and see this:

First Snowfall October 20, 2020 - piecefulthoughts.com

Tuesday brought us 7 inches of snow, an unusual event for mid-October. It snowed almost the entire day. Do you see that “drift” just left of the end of our driveway? That’s not a snowdrift, it’s a pile of rocks. We are having our septic system redone ($$$) and that rock is supposed to be moving to our backyard soon. So the snow might look pretty, but I sure wish a few more warm days would return!

I am enjoying Anne Perry’s books, the William Monk series. I just finished the fourth book and it’s the best one that I’ve read so far. Are you reading any good books lately? My stash is getting low, so I’m looking for suggestions!

I like that I have a cat that matches my fall decor.

Wilbs matches my fall quilt - piecefulthoughts.com

A few of you wondered where Wilbs was in my Tuesday post, so I thought I’d show you two photos of him today. So, of course, that means my next like is . . .

The Weekly Wilbs

The Weekly Wilbs - piecefulthoughts.com

Being all matchy and stuff can really wear a guy out! Actually, my son got this blanket from his work, and Wilbs loves the soft fleece. He kneads it, then curls up and he’s out!

This I Like Thursday 52 post has been a short one, so if you’d like to read more posts by the others who join in on these posts, you can find them all listed over at Not Afraid of Color. If you want to read some of my past I Like Thursday posts, you can find them here

The snow looks so soft and pristine, BUT am I ever so glad you kept it to yourself. Wilbs has the right idea snuggle in and snooze.

Wilbur looks awesome with your fall decor as does Rusty with my recent sunflower blocks! Snow is great when it doesn’t cover things you need access to (like my car when I need to get to work!). I really like the author, Tana French. She writes mysteries set in Ireland. Have a great day, Mary.

Oh my, I hope the snow melts quickly so your septic can get finished! It is beautiful but now it will be a long winter! More snow coming today up here in the northland! You are smart to get book ideas!
Wilbur is an entertaining cat! So cute!
My Like today is our basement! The last couple days my daughter helped edit and organize!!
    Happy Thursday! Stay warm!

7 inches! wow at this time of October hope it melts soon. Do not envy you the septic redo we had that a couple years ago and the backyard was such a mess for awhile. I am reading an old book that was a favorite way when and I still like the reread the books – a trilogy by Evelyn Anthony this is the second book and it is called The Avenue of the Dead – she wrote the series in the early to mid 80’s

Fire Monkey could see my screen when I was reading this and he very enthusiastically likes your cat. I let him know that the cat’s name is Wilbur and then showed him your snow–he’s very concerned that the snow plow needs to come! 🙂 Give Wilbur extra pets and cuddles from us!

Wilbur looks like pumpkin spice latte. That snow scene looks more like winter than I’m ready for. I can’t believe how much you got so early. Another friend says they’re expecting snow in upstate New York,

Hi Wendy! Like #52?!! That’s a whole year of participating! Woohoo. I did miss the Wilbur photo in Tuesday post but didn’t mention it. I actually thought to myself, where’s Wilbur, and then realized that you always share him on Thursday. Every post works for me, though! I love seeing him all relaxed in the fleece blanket. I CANNOT believe you got 7 inches of snow. Holy moly. It is way, way, WAY too early for that. It really seems like just yesterday that you were in the Badlands, right?! ~smile~ Roseanne

I like a nice cozy blanket during snow days too, wilbur! we’re expecting snow too, more normal for this time of year than our Sept snow was. Your view is sure pretty

  • Mary

Wills is a beautiful color. To me the snow is beautiful but I don’t have to work with it. I can’t imagine what you’re going thru. Hang in there!

    • Diann@ Little Penguin Quilts

Gorgeous view from your trip, and wow on the snow! We are supposed to get some over the weekend, but I dan’t complain because we really need it! I’ll have to check out that author. Wilbur is such a pretty cat! Looks like he likes that banana baby, too! 🙂

Aaaahhh! SNOW! It looks great!! We’re supposed to get back up to 81 (yuck!) just for today but tomorrow right back to rain, cold and likely freezing. So of course I have my entire house all opened up! That looks like a lovely blanket for Wilbs and of course he kneaded it first, as furry as it is! Chloe will do that forEVER on a furry blanket before she finally curls up. Seriously, I’ll come back 15 mins later and she’s still going! (I’d put her to work in the kitchen but I’m not big on fur in my bread.)

Hi Wendy, Even though you have snow, you do have some wonderful, less wintery photos! Hopefully, this snow is just a weird blip and will go away and you’ll have some warmer and sunnier days! 🙂

  • Rochelle Summers

Oh, SNOW! I keep wondering if we’ll get anything close to that or rain this year. But I want it to hold off for a couple of weeks while we finish up a few projects, like the front deck, an electrical redo, winterizing the cooler, etc. In the meantime, Wilb looks so comfortable on the furry blanket. Thanks for sharing him with us and good luck with the septic tank project.

  • Kathleen McCormick

Love the kitty, the snow – not so much! I can’t believe how much you got on your first snowfall. I think it is clever to have a cat that matches your favorite color!

  • Carol Andrews

I can’t believe the snow you were hit with! It would be expected for me to have it but not you. It’s too early! Good luck with the septic repair. That’s such a big job. I’d love to know what Wilbs was planning in the first photo. He looks as if he is getting ready to pounce!

  • txquiltgal

Pretty scenery from the Black Hills, and the snow scene is so beautiful. Yes I know, if it was happening here I’d be wanting it to be over. I always look forward to snow, enjoy it for a day, then I want it to go away. My sympathies for the septic repair. We left behind an aerobic septic system that was very efficient but not cheap. Hope you have a wonderful weekend!

  • Judy Blauer

Although it’s pretty,I agree it’s too early for this much snow, we are under a winter storm watch through the weekend. I always say, if it would just stay off the roads and highways, it could snow all it wants. We do need the moisture this year. Especially in Colorado, Wyoming and California. Hope it clears so you can get your septic project complete! Ugh!

  • Jocelyn Thurston

I just had to check the map to see how far from me you are. Actually not that far south of Ontario. Can’t believe you got that snow so early…I’m sure it will melt fast though and I’ve read that’s actually good for a garden. Anyway, we are hanging in there with above freezing temps so far. I love that hanging above his nibs and the way you quilted it. Wonderful. I used to read all Anne Perry’s books years ago. Happy Weekend, Wendy.

  • Colette

Oh not looking forward to snow. I was thinking about how girl is all fallish too especially when she rolls around in the leaves outside. Hope your septic can be finished.

  • Robin

Here in Florida it’s hard for me to imagine snow like that. I grew up in mid-Alantic area & basically got snow in January. I’ve read most Anne Perry and enjoyed them all. My fav was the series with the nurse(I’m a ret RN) so -of course. I need to look & I’ll send you an author list if you like the Historical Fiction, not bodice busters but real history, and mysteries.
