I Like Thursday 54
I like Thursday 54, my 54th post of things I find each week that bring me joy, make me smile, or make my life easier. I’m joining in with LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color and my other blogging friends who join in each Thursday. You can find the whole list with links over at Not Afraid of Color.
I’m going to warn you, this post has more photos of Wilbur than usual. He has been especially helpful and fun this week. Our daughter recently moved back home with us, as you know. Wilbur has a major crush on her, maybe because she uses “the blanket” and that makes for even better cuddling. But more on that in a bit. Let me share some of my other likes from this week first.
Some of you may have seen my post of this photo on Instagram. I’m pattern testing for a couple of friends from my local quilt group who have started up a pattern business. This is the fabric I’m using for the test. I enjoy testing patterns for quilters because I enjoy supporting them in their business, and I like to try new and different patterns. This one is quite fun and fast – I should be finished with the top today. All of the fabrics are from my stash. I’ve enjoyed thinking about other quilts I’ve made with these fabrics while I’m stitching on this test.
My daughter and I went to Target the other day and came home with this little waffle iron (along with a few other things, of course). It makes little 4-inch waffles. Yes, we had waffles that night for dinner. I treated myself to two waffles topped with bacon, banana, pecans and maple syrup. Yum!
As we’ve cleaning and rearranging to find room for things, I pulled out some pillowcases in our linen closet. This one was made by my sister-in-law Nita – I still love the cats in their jaunty winterwear.
The Weekly Wilbs
It has been terribly exciting for Wilbs around here lately. So much stuff to explore, and places to climb into (empty closet shelves – whee!). Along with all that fun, there’s work to do, too.
Here he is, helping our daughter set up her office, making sure those computers were getting set up just right. (Don’t tell, but I think he’s really assessing either the tassle handing on the shelf knob, or whether he can jump to the top of that shelf . . .)
With all that hard work done, it was time for a little creative work. He was delighted to assist Molly as she was learning how to punch needle.
He was pretty sure he should hang on to that thread for her and make sure she was getting all the details right.
After all that hard work, it was time for a nap on Molly’s lap and “the blanket”.
Thanks for reading my silly I Like Thursday 54 post. Wilbs and I appreciate it! See you next week!

Wilbur offered a warm welcome to Miss M. I bet he’s excited to have her around! Enjoy those waffles too — perfect for fall and winter.

Oh, Wilbs! It looks like he’s extra fluffy this week, too. Is he getting some winter fur? That waffle maker is so cute 🙂

Looking forward to seeing what you make with those bright fabrics. Yum.
And congratulations to Wilbur on getting the cover photograph for this post!

It’s always nice to see the Wibs and being so helpful on top of that!

I’ll bet those were the cutest waffles ever! Did you make everyone make their own? Molly all settled in now? I hope you aren’t feeling Wilbur neglected.

I bet those 4 inch waffles were great! I’m sure you’re enjoying having your daughter home, Wilbur definitely seems to be enjoying having Molly around! Take care!

Wilbur is so cute and looks like my Vinnie. I love reading about Wilbur as cats can be very entertaining. Your fabric you’re going to be using on your test quilt is beautiful!

don’t think I have seen such a tiny waffle iron – just my size I might have to look for one. Cats can be very entertaining can’t they
Barbara
Wilbur is such a good helper. Oh my gosh! Now I need the tiny waffle iron.

That tiny waffle iron! How cool! Speaking of cool…..Wilbur is one cool cat!

Love the fabric you are using for pattern testing…the colors are delicious. I accidentally bought waffle mix at the store a couple of weeks ago and yesterday my husband made waffles. He gifted me with two quarters (I could have had more). They were so good with homemade strawberry rhubarb jam! Wilbs is the kind of guy that makes us small. He’s handsome, friendly and really likes to cuddle!! Have a great week.

I’m glad Wilbur is having a good week! We are a big waffle family–I made waffles this morning for my son’s first day of in person school.

Hi Wendy! Oh gosh, I can see what a big helper Wilbs is to Molly. Especially in the punch needle arena. One can never have enough inspectors, right?! AND a four-inch waffle?!! What a cute little thing – you know you can try making some hash brown potatoes in there and you’ll have small potato pancakes. I definitely would have had more than two waffles although that sounds just about right for my two littles. Addi loves anything with syrup! {{Hugs}} Thanks for sharing all the fun things this week. ~smile~ Roseanne

I love that fabric pull – looks like it will be fun for pattern testing! The photo of Wilbur looking at the computer is just priceless! It sounds like he’s just going to eat up the cuddling and attention from Molly. And a mini waffle maker – fun! Happy Thursday, Wendy!

I love Wilbur. 🙂 The mini waffle maker is adorable. Cats on skis is cute!
Quilting is in my Blood
What an adorable waffle iron. I am a much bigger fan of waffles than I am of pancakes. The extra pics of Wilbur are so much fun. I’m glad you all are enjoying having your daughter home with you for awhile.

Molly learning hooking, Wilbs supervising waffles and those fabrics! There definitely is lots to like or love in this post and your life 😉

Will we get to see the pattern you are testing, or is that going to be a big reveal elsewhere – love the fabric pull. Wilbur looks very happy – I love him! We have a waffle iron, but I didn’t know they made them in that size. Your dinner sounds delicious but where was the butter? 😉
Jocelyn Thurston
Thank you Wendy…I had a smile on my face all through the weekly Wilbs lineup. SO cute. Funny I’ve been thinking about waffle irons and needing one, yes, we need one. Winter coming and all…

Great pattern testing fabrics…it will be fun to see the finished piece. Wilbur sure does have a lot to explore with Molly in the picture. I need to grab my punch needle, maybe today. I have one I am determined to finish, but first, some bad punching needs to be removed! Oh, the waffle maker is adorable, and perfect portion control!

Great likes. Wilbur is crushing on the daughter, that is very cute. Pretty fabrics. Hope everything is settling in for you.

Now that we’re empty nesters, we’ve started going out to eat Sunday morns–the one day we had always made a big breakfast in the past. We’ve found we really miss that but still don’t want the dishes on Sundays so we’ve started doing breakfast on Wednesday nights and love it. This week is waffles! I LOVE waffles (esp Belgian) and that waffle maker is sooo cute! And so is Wilbur of course. I’m a little partial to orange cats (yet for some reason, have never had one?!).
