I Like Thursday
I’m popping in to share a few things for the I Like Thursday party hosted by LeeAnna over at Not Afraid of Color. You can see the list of all who participate in these I Like Thursday posts over at LeeAnna’s blog. Here’s a few things that have filled my past week.
As you walk to the door of the River City Restaurant in Windom, MN, you are greeted by these cute little chairs. Aren’t they fun?
Inside the restaurant, the tables had whimsical decorations, like these orange slice salt and pepper shakers.
When we returned home from our mini road trip, I was playing with some fabric pulls. What do you think of this combination?
The value of the yellow and green fabrics is a bit too close, so I may need to change up one of those colors. I’m trying to find coordinating fabrics for the purple feather fabric.
Meanwhile, when I’m not playing with fabric, I’ve had my nose in a book. This is the 11th book of the Cork O’Connor series by William Kent Krueger. Definitely one of my favorites in the series so far, but also the most emotional.
Molly gave me this book journal, and I’ve enjoyed recording the books I’ve read this year. I was surprised to find I’ve read 7 books in March so far.
I enjoy following non-quilt related artists on Instagram. Remington Robinson is a favorite – he does mint tin oil paintings. You can see his work here.
The Weekly Wilbs
Wilbs has a throwback photo for this I Like Thursday post. Seen here, he is checking my seam allowance as I sew. He’s found that his favorite place to be lately, when he’s not napping, is on top of my machine.
He could also be looking for snacks – he knows I have some hiding back there somewhere!
I hope you’ve enjoyed a peek into my week with this I Like Thursday post.
Thanks for stopping by!
Wendy

I agree the green and yellow are close. Maybe you could try an orange range fabric.
Have a good week.
The Joyful Quilter
LOVE that chair, Wendy!! Your fabric pull would work fine (IMO) with the right pattern. There are times when a strong color difference it a fine substitute for value contrast. Thanks for that artist’s link. My mind is blown by the beauty and details in those paintings!!

Great likes. Love the grunge fabric in your heading. Fun chairs. Oh WKK I love his books, and that one is very emotional. I used to have a book journal, but gave up on it and use Goodreads now and a spreadsheet on my computer. Good to see you Wilbs helping.

I’m not sure if I have read that author I will need to check and see! cute place
Carol in Texas
Who would ever have thought you could put so much in the lid of an Altoids box!!! Amazing! I forwarded his work to a couple of artists I know. Thanks for showing his work to us…..and also Wilbs on the machine! What a wonderful cat!!!!

I love those tables and the restaurant decor. Pretty fabrics too! I might be tempted to draw out the bright red or the bright blue in place of the yellow, but that’s just me.
Cindy Pieters
Love the grunge fabrics! I think the yellow perhaps should go and be replaced with a rust, or blue.
Sandi
I love the Cork O’Conner books!! I love your fabrics and look forward to eye what you plan to make. Hugs,

Never have I seen a cat as nimble as your own Wilbs…atop a sewing machine for goodness’ sake!
My 2cents: I like the yellow over the dots in this application, but like the dots as a fabric overall in general.

Thanks for sharing! I love the chairs and the salt & pepper shakers! Looks like a fab restaurant!
I’m looking forward to reading Heaven’s Keep!
Wilbs looks like he’s ready to make sure your seams are correct! 🙂

The spoon and fork chairs are cool! I am not on Instagram, and I sure appreciate the link you have here to Remington! I enjoyed browsing through his fantastic little art pieces! He seems to be able to paint anything in miniature! Wonderful! 🙂

Oh Wilbs! It’s amazing he didn’t fall right off! Silly sweetheart. Ooh, those fabrics look fun especially the purple feathers. I look forward to seeing where those end up! I wonder if you might swap the yellow with something in the teal family? I guess it depends on what you want to pull out and highlight from the feathers. And the book journal – I love journals. That’s a nice and thoughtful gift. {{Hugs}} ~smile~ Roseanne

Love that fork and spoon chair! I think you found a fun place! I like the fabric pull, too, even if those two are close. I love the Cork O’Connor books, and have forgotten where I left off. I’ll have to try and figure that out. I started a book journal a few years ago, and have loved keeping track of the books I’ve read. It helps when you know a title sounds familiar, but you can’t remember if you read it or not, lol!

Ha! I love that chair! Fabrics are pretty. Wilbur! Who knew sewing was so fascinating!

Are those fabrics from the new quilt shop? LOVE the purple feather fabric. I always enjoy photos of restaurants and checking out the menus since I’m still such a foodie. I’m so glad Wilbs takes his sewing room duties seriously. My kitties are glad I read your blog since I’ve started keeping a treat bag in mine like you do. 😉

The chair and table ornaments are so much fun! The fabric pull looks great. I think I would have an orange in the mix, but you will find the right combo I am sure. Did the squirrel go to visit the grunge or is that the way your fabrics are stored???

Hallo Wendy, love your posts and learn so much. Especially vocabularies… like nimble… love this nimble cat so much!!! I am not often leaving comments, to much afraid, but in this case please allow me to hive you the idea of going away from to mich yellow and look deeper into the colours of the purple feather fabric. I see more a real dark turquoise (we call it petrol) and light blue. That could give the range you choose a completey other direction. And works perfect with purple and the black and white….. how does this sound? Love your quilting!

Bella loves to perch on the top of my sewing machine too, though I have encouraged her not to, unless the quilted cover is on. I found quite a few of her furs inside it last year when we took the side of it off for me to give it a bit of a deeper clean. Those chairs are adorable! What about a purple or orange that’s softer in tone? I’ve kept a book journal for gosh, probably 20 years… It started in a coiled scribbler and morphed into on the computer. It’s fun to look back! Seven in March is awesome!
