I Like Thursdays #12
I have a quick post for my I Like Thursdays #12. I almost forgot to post today, so I’m sneaking this in quick. LeeAnna and the others who join in can be found here. If you need some smiles for the day, please go visit them and read their posts. You can find them all here.
Inspiration. I can find design inspiration in so many places. This mug has me thinking on a design for my SIL’s shop.
Meandering through shops. Sometimes I like to go out and just quietly meander through shops. I did that this week, and this little fella came home with me. Someday soon – hopefully – he will be touting a colorful little pincushion.
Homemade Potpourri. This morning I decided to juice a bunch of oranges. I took a few of the orange peels and cut them up, tossed in some whole cloves and cinnamon sticks, and covered them with water. Bringing them to simmer on the stove makes my house smell lovely.
Twinkly Lights. I don’t have a photo for this one, because I haven’t been able to capture the lights well. I love trees wrapped in twinkly lights! I’d love to have a whole backyard full of twinkly lighted trees. This time of year, when it gets dark so soon, it just adds a festive feel, no matter the weather.
I hope you all find something to make your day sparkle! Thanks for reading I Like Thursdays #12!

Hi Wendy! Isn’t that the truth about finding quilt inspiration just about everywhere?! I love that little mug with the puppy and tree. I could totally see that as a wall hanging or even a whole quilt. I agree with you about the twinkly lights – the Botanical garden here wraps most of their trees in lights and it is just gorgeous. I just HAVE to get a photo. I could look at them for hours – well, not really but for a long time. ~smile~ Roseanne

Your little elephant will make a very cute pincushion. I haven’t done potpourri like that, but sometimes I make homemade chai tea mix…or something. Basically, you add milk and microwave to make a chai drink. It’s very tasty, but all of that to say it has similar spices, and it makes the house smell good when I make it.

That little pachyderm is adorable!! a cute idea to make it into a pincushion…I always get a couple oranges and make pomanders out of them with cloves and ribbon for hanging every year…I love that fresh orange scent…great likes hugs, Julierose

That is such a cute mug! It does look like it could be a quilt design. Did you buy it? 🙂 The lights at Christmas are my favorite part – can’t wait to start seeing them come on around town. I bet your house is smelling delicious right now. Are you expecting company for Thanksgiving, Wendy?
karenfae
that is going to make the perfect pin cushion!

Hi Wendy!
You are a true quilter- finding inspiration everywhere!
And you make me want to eat an orange – just to use the peels to make my house smell wonderful!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

What a darling little elephant, he will sure look good as a pincushion. I can almost smell the lovely aroma of your potpourri here.

I have done that with fruit peels… apples and oranges, lemons, cinnamon. Yum. LOVE the little elephant, and I am a wanderer in stores too. Clerks want to help me “out” but I want to wander and see displays. LOVE lights, grew up near Disney World where it’s always twinkling.

That pincushion is going to be so much fun! I love the inspiration in the mug, too. I do like special lights for the darkness…I keep a string of Christmas lights up for January – just for the benefit of fun light!

I must try that with our orange peels!
