I Like Thursdays #21
Another week has gone by, and I’m here with my I Like Thursdays #21 post. I’m joining in with our host, LeeAnna over at Not Afraid of Color and my other fellow bloggers who post each Thursday. I know they would appreciate it if you would stop by their blogs and read their likes as well.
Ducks!
I love to watch ducks, with their wiggling tails and happy quacks. One of my favorite Instagram feeds is @motherof_ducklings. It’s like a little daily post of happiness.
Words of Encouragement
I recently purchased some quilting templates, and this little piece of tape was holding the packaging together. I had to put it on my machine; it makes me smile whenever I see it.
Fabric Clips
I searched for these for quite awhile before I found them on Etsy. It was a happy moment indeed. They work so much better than pins.
Here’s a closer view.
They are slim so they don’t add bulk to the fabric, and they slip on easily. I ordered a large amount and keep them in a bowl on my shelf. My fabric is folded onto comic boards and secured with these clips. I worked on shelving some of my fabric this weekend; here is a photo of my fabric storage unit that my husband made for me.
It’s still in progress, as you can see. The cream-colored pot is the holder for the clips.
Fun Little Makes
I had coffee with a friend the other day, and I made her this little mug mat. I love to make mug mats and other little projects. They go together so quickly and make a perfect little gift.
I forgot to take a better photo before I wrapped it up. The back is that same red polka dot fabric. I thought this was a festive and fun little mat to celebrate a birthday and for an early Valentine.
Quiltfolk Magazine
This particular issue of Qiultfolk features my state of Minnesota. I’m delighted that three women from my local quilt group are featured in this issue. All three women are gifted quilters and delightful to be around. I’m so happy for them!
Sunshine!
We are missing sunshine here in Minnesota – a news report today said this has been the gloomiest January for us in 60 years. I believe it. I’m tired of the clouds and ready for some sunshine.
Pinch of Yum
Pinch of Yum has great recipes. I’ve made a few of them, and not been disappointed. I have no affiliation with this site, just thought I’d pass it along because I enjoy new dinner ideas now and then.
And that’s a wrap for my I Like Thursdays #21. I hope you’ve found things to like this week too. If you want to join in, let LeeAnna know — I’m sure she’d be happy to add you to the group!

Good Morning Wendy! Amen to loving sunshine. At least what I remember of it. We’ve had two days of it this month. T.w.o. Egads. At least it’s almost February and longer days, etc. Your sweet mug rug is so cute and what a nice, thoughtful gift. Your fabric storage looks so nice and neat, plus it’s motivating to see it all together. You Got This! ~smile~ Roseanne

love the sticker on your machine. I have not seen those metal clips. Your sewing area looks great I will check out the link on dinners can always use some ideas – it has been gloomy here a lot too

We use those clips in the shop and they are so much better than pins. Your fabric shelves look fantastic! Pinch of Yum is one of my go to sites for recipe ideas – they have some really good ones!

The sticker is so much fun! I too have been missing the sun – it appears for a few hours then gets cloudy. Ducks – do love watching them too; thanks for more fun instagram stuff. Nice mat for a coffee friend….

Well, I like this post. And that mug mat is adorable!

What a fun list! That tape for the sewing machine is perfect! I feel like I could stick that message lots of places that would be beneficial! And that duckling instagram account is adorable!

Love your note on your sewing machine! Great encouragement!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

I like your sticker, too! I just noticed those clips at my favorite LQS – didn’t know you could buy them for home use. They do look handy! Your Valentine mug rug is adorable! How did you make those four tiny hearts? Love them!
Colette
The sticker is great, cute mug rug. How cool to know people who are in the magazine. Yep Michigan has had a lot of those gray cloudy days too this year. Do you put fabric clips at each end or just one end? Where did you get them? I wind my yardage on comic book boards. I have impaled myself on the pins a few times.

LOL – I live duck tail waggles – I just witnessed one this week. Oh, wow, so much fabric! Lots of good likes.

Lovely likes, Wendy. I use Pinch of Yum often. Very sweet mug rug and that’s just about what I should be tackling size wise for quilting. Sweet gift idea. I’ve never seen those clips. Your space with cabinet made by hubby looks so tidy. Happy Stitching!

What a great list! I love that tape, and the machine is the perfect place for a reminder!

Hope you get some sunshine soon! We had an overcast summer, autumn, and now winter. I vote for sunshine! My friend is arranging her fabric on the comic boards, will tell her about the clips! Have a great week!
Kate
I envy your storage solution, mine is still a work in progress. I agree that January seemed extra gloomy. Let’s hope that February is sunnier and warmer.

that little tape is the gift that keeps on giving! It has even been overcast for days here in “sunny” colorado, and I get depressed without sun. I like quiltfolk, but it’s expensive, and how cool to know people that are showcased in it! I bet your friend is happy with the hearts… when I had a hard time moving here, a blogging friend sent the absolute cutest artsy little quiltlet she painted and bedazzled. It’s still on my nightstand and I see it every night and remember her.
Mary
How thoughtful to put that sticker with your purchase! I like that storage unit also. We even had a gloomy January here in Peoria Az but today is gorgeous. Hope you get sunshine soon.
Quilting is in my Blood
Hi Wendy. Your fabric looks so wonderful folded up and secured on those comic boards. And I’m all for using social media to bring us joy. I follow @upsdogs on Instagram, and I smile at every post I read. And your mug rug with actual binding—it’s just great. Do you use a single fold binding with mug rugs? Hope you have a wonderful Sunday. Take care, Mary.
piecefulwendy
I did use single fold binding on this one. It varies by mood. Sometimes I do double, because that’s my favorite.

Pinch of Yum has been on my I Like posts several times! I’ve also featured several of her dishes there and on the blog over the years. Never been disappointed yet, and I’ve made a ton of her recipes. I like those clips and I love looking at your organized stash. One day soon I may be reorganizing and then looking at mine….
