I Like Thursdays #31
Welcome to I Like Thursdays #31 – my 31st post where I share things that I see or experience during the past week that I’ve enjoyed or am thankful for. I’m joining with LeeAnna of Not Afraid of Color and other bloggers who join in with their own I Like Thursday posts. You can find all of our links listed at Not Afraid of Color.
I like mossy trees. I took this picture (above) a few years ago, and I’m actually considering a fabric pull based on the colors of the moss. I’m fascinated by the different colors I see when I really look at the moss – greens, yellows, blues, grays – and that bark color too!
We had a very wet day earlier this week, and I liked this view from our front door. Water droplets on windows make me smile. (And look at that green grass!)
The Repair Shop on Netflix has become one of our favorite shows to watch. A group of creative artists work together to restore furniture, clocks, paintings, family heirlooms, etc. The artists have a wonderful camaraderie, and the items they work on are fascinating.
I have finally found an iced coffee recipe I can make at home that I like. Have you seen the dalgona coffee recipes on social media? I finally tried it, and oh my – yum! Here is the recipe I use. I’ve tweaked it a bit to make an iced coffee that is very close to my favorite coffee shop variety. Wondering about the glass? That’s my glass in this house. I’m Babe and BigJ is Paul Bunyan (his glass has Paul Bunyan on it, in red). Silly, but we find it fun.
And that’s my I Like Thursdays #31, a short list today, but I hope you enjoyed it.
What is something you’ve seen or experienced this week that has brought a smile to your face? I’d enjoy hearing about it, so feel free to leave a comment and I’ll respond to you by email.
Happy Thursday, friends!
Wendy

I’ll have to give the whipped coffee recipe a try.

Beautiful photos. That moss inspiration would make a beautiful pull!

I love the moss photo and agree that it’s a great inspiration for a fabric pull. We’ve had lots of rain lately and our grass is a luscious green also!

I will look and find the shop on Netflix always ready for something new! I love moss on trees and I have it on ground here in a lot of places instead of grass – I don’t know if that is good but I think it is pretty and less grass to cut

You should definintely make a quilt with the tree colors. Maybe another improv mini?

Oh my, that coffee recipe looks delicious! I’ll have to put the ingredients on my shopping wish list. Beautiful mossy tree photo.

Thank you for the Netflix recommendation! I love the colours of Nature as well, and I did take a second look at that moss, mmmm! Fungi on trees fascinates me too, and I, too have a love for moss, the softness of it is incredible.

If you like moss on trees, you’d love it here in Oregon. We grow moss on our moss. Honestly, it’s so wet here about nine months out of the year, anything that doesn’t move is covered in moss. I love iced coffee. I’ll have to give that a try.

I also love moss, and your Babe the Blue Ox glass! Happy Thursday, Wedny!

I haven’t heard of that show… I love the idea of repair not replace!!! I admit to having actually replaced batteries on my old phone several times instead of upgrading, ditto the computer. The moss/lichen is so ruffly too… the color is amazing. A quilt combining all those shades from dark brown to gray green would be so awesome. It would be a challenge in proportion of colors too.

Wendy your moss photo will be a fabulous colour palette for a fabric pull. Can’t wait to see what you do with it when you do get the pull together. Isn’t that coffee just the best? I’m not a fan of instant coffee but had to get some just to try the Korean whipped coffee. I enjoyed it through the winter even! Wish I had the Blue Ox glass to have mine in. The whimsy of it is perfection. Enjoy your day. 😉 Carol

I read your post earlier, but got off on a tangent checking out the iced coffee drink! I’m going to have to try that! I love the moss photo, too – so many interesting details. Will have to check out that Netflix show, too.

Diann – I went on that same tangent . . . and finally got back to submit a comment! ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Wendy! I think your red Babe glass is fun and very appropriate. I have a Miller High Life glass, while Sue has a Beauty and the Beast. Rather fitting as well, now that I think about it. I am going to check out your recipe, and I wish I still had Netflix to give that program a shot. I love the look of rain on the windows – I would like to capture that somehow in quilting . . . but the moss look is definitely doable. Right up your alley with some improv. Go for it – it will be fab. ~smile~ Roseanne

Ooh – that iced coffee looks delicious! I love that moss, too! I’m looking forward sunny weather this weekend and working in the yard. Hope you have some less rainy days, too.
Quilting is in my Blood
Hi Wendy, I really enjoy your photographic eye. You make colors that I’m not normally drawn to look so appealing! And I agree with everyone else that your iced coffee drink looks delicious. I wish I could stop by and sit outside with you for a chat and enjoy one of those iced coffees!

I can’t wait to see your quilt with the tree trunk, bark, moss, and lichen. Your iced coffee sounds yummy. Love the glass. In Northern California is a place called Tress of Mystery in the Redwoods. There is a Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.

I am not even thinking about iced coffee, but I will look at those recipes. I love the glasses you have – very sweet. Your fascination with colors is shown in your quilting. I can’t wait to see your fabric pull based on that great tree picture.

I’m fascinated with moss too! I haven’t thought about iced coffee but it isn’t really warm here yet. Have a wonderful week!
