Pieceful Life

I Like Thursdays #36

For my I Like Thursdays #36 post today, I thought I’d take you on a little walk with me and show you a little of my neighborhood. While I’m getting ready to go, let me share my first like with you.

I Like Thursdays #36 - A tiny oil on canvas, by the talented Krisi Lillie, a local artist - piecefulthoughts.com

While sheltering in place, local artist Krisi Lillie asked friends to comment on a Facebook post, and tell her what they would like her to paint. This was my request. This oil on canvas is a teensy 2″ square. Isn’t it lovely? If you’d like to see more of her work, you can go to her Facebook page, right here

Okay, I have my shoes on and I’m ready to roll. Let’s step out on my deck first. Just outside the door, you’ll see this ironwork. We picked it up the last time we were in Santa Fe.

I Like Thursdays #36 - I like this ironwork that we bought in Santa Fe - piecefulthoughts.com

It’s about 24″ in diameter, and has been tinted in blue to look like patina.

Okay, if you look at the photo at the top of this post, that’s my geranium pot just kitty-corner from the ironwork. I like the combination of the colors, and that it’s all working together. I choose my plants almost as randomly as a choose my fabric!

I Like Thursdays #36 - I like the hosta plants in our yard - piecefulthoughts.com

Before we head down the steps, let’s take a peek over the railing. I love to look down on the hosta bed. I’m always amazed at how fast they grow (and how often they need to be split!). I like all the variation of color.

I Like Thursdays #36 - Nothing beats a beautiful blue sky, sunshine, and a few clouds - piecefulthoughts.com

I have another 100 Day Project that I began on June 1st. Did I tell you that? For 100 days, I am going to walk at least 1 mile each day. So c’mon! Let’s get going! This is one of routes, along a country road. There is very little traffic, other than an occasional tractor. I snapped this photo as I walked along because the sky was so pretty. Doesn’t it just make you smile?

If we take another route, we’ll walk down what we call the “hospital trail”. Funny name, huh? Actually it’s a trail that runs along a road that connects the highway by our house with the road to the hospital (5 mins from our house). So far, we are walking just that distance, eventually we’ll keep going. The trail loops past the hospital and onto the grounds of St. Olaf College and out into a prairie, then brings us back to our starting place.

Anyway, that wraps up my I Like Thursdays #36 tour. I hope you enjoyed it. I’ll leave you with this pretty view along our hospital trail walk. A sunset view of St. Olaf College. It was a beautiful evening!

Enjoyed the walk! And what a great goal: a mile a day!
Your hostas are lovely! I have hostas and last year had to move a bunch because we built a new deck. So this spring I moved some back and added a new variety with the old! Fun change!
Geraniums are a favorite and your pink one is gorgeous! Happy Thursday!

Your walk looks so nice and peaceful. I also walk just about every day either going to the park and walking the trails or around my neighborhood. I enjoy your Blog. I see Wilbur is a great help! My cats do the same.

walking is my saving grace, it resets my spine and my spirit both. Thanks for taking me. We planned a Santa Fe trip this spring but of course it’s not safe to travel so that is postponed til whenever. Your sky is like ours… pretty right now.
Thank you for writing an I Like post

Looks like you have a green thumb! Sometime I will share a picture of my poor, pitiful geranium – it is blooming but the plant itself has not grown since I planted it a month ago! Love your hostas, too. Fun to see what you see out in your yard and on your walk!

love your walk – I love those long dirt roads with little traffic on them – I wish I had one like that were I could see for miles. I really need to dig up my hostas and break apart and I never do!

Hi, I love your little painting! I couldn’t believe how small it is, it makes me love it even more. Your iron work is really neat, I love it on the wall. I love hosta too, yours is so pretty. The walk was great beautiful scenery. Have a great day! Hugs,

Hi Wendy! I love your ironwork piece. The colors are beautiful and it must look fantastic with the geraniums. Thanks for taking us along on your walk. What a nice peaceful road to walk upon and the sky/clouds add to the peacefulness. ~smile~ Roseanne

I love that little painting! So cute! The metal sun(flower?) is really pretty. That overhead shot of the hostas is impressive! Blue skies and green growing things – always lovely to look at. 🙂

Such a lovely yard and a beautiful walk. I walk every morning about 2 1/2 – 3 miles. It is quiet and cool right now. I walk indoors in the winter time (I hope the track is open again this winter). Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for inviting me along on your walk! Looks beautiful! We walk daily, twice a day on the weekends, in a very suburban-looking neighborhood. The sky sure has been gorgeous lately, hasn’t it? Love all the shades of blue I’ve seen.
