I Like Thursdays #5
While I write this I Like Thursdays post, it is pouring rain outside. The windows are cracked just a teensy bit, and the cool breeze feels wonderful. My one not-sewing-related like for today is rain showers!
I have a short post today, and all my likes are sewing related. I apparently didn’t get out much this week (or I forgot to snap photos).
Anyway, here we go. I want to thank LeeAnna at Not Afraid of Color once again for hosting this fun weekly party. I hope you pop over to her site after you’re done here, and read the other I Like Thursday posts. You’ll enjoy them!
Cleaning Brushes
In one of my recent Sew Sampler boxes, there were these cleaning brushes.
Honestly, my initial thought was “how dumb”. All that has changed, now that I’ve used them. They reach into narrow spaces, and the tips hold on to the lint.
They can get into places where my brush is too big. I’m always amazed at how much lint is hiding down in there!
Sewing Organization
Since I have a small sewing space, I’m always hunting for better sewing organization. Another item I received in a Sew Sampler box is this little holder.
This was another item I initially thought I’d never use. Now it’s an essential part of my sewing table, as you can see. I have several scissors, stilettos, seam rippers, tweezers, pens and pencils stashed in there. I even put my sewing machine foot in there when I switch it out for another. Wilbur, my cat, finds this endlessly fascinating with all those things sticking up to chew or bat. And just when I was thinking this one was getting overloaded, the smaller, half size version came in another box. Pretty sure I’ll be able to use it.
(No affiliation with either of these items, just things I like.)
Pretty Little Trimmings
I like little piles of trimmings, especially in bright colors (warm earth tones are exciting too). Seeing them makes me feel like I’ve been very productive. The bright colors all tumbled together makes my little heart go pitty pat.
Speaking of My Heart Going Pitty Pat
Okay, one non-quilty love. This guy. Today is our 32nd anniversary, so I need to list this, right? He truly makes my heart go pitty-pat. And he takes me to quilt shops. What’s not to like?? 🙂
So with that, I’m off to celebrate with him. Part of the celebration is having both of our kids home. We are going to enjoy each others’ company, but I will be quilting and hopefully posting, so stay tuned!
Enjoy your day, friends!
Wendy

Hi Wendy! The like button isn’t enough today – it needs to be hearts! Happy anniversary. What a sweet photo! I love those brushes – it really did hang on to the lint, didn’t it?! I am always amazed at how much lint is around when I clean out my machine. Happy Thursday and enjoy your anniversary day. ~smile~ Roseanne

you two are glowing! I like 32 years of marriage! I wonder how many before the actual ceremony did you spend together too? That was a good sewing box for you… it’s so funny that a first reaction is what is this stuff!? then you liked it and let us know about it. Thanks, have fun!

Happy anniversary! What a neat organizer. And yes! you need little brushes that capture the lint – it’s amazing what gets caught in a sewing machine.

Aw, love that photo of the two of you. Look how happy you look!
I need those items you mentioned…I could definitely use the organizational doohickey. It’s like we need all of it at our fingertips.
Happy Anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! I don’t know if I dare post, but ours is next Thurdsay (27 years). I have some brushes made of a drinking straw and pipe cleaner and love them…yours look a tiny bit sturdier! And yes, that stash and store is one of my favorites. Thanks for sharing all these great things!
