I Like Thursdays #6
Today is I Like Thursdays #6; I’ve missed a few Thursdays in between this post and the last. It’s been a bit busy around here. I’m joining our host, LeeAnna and the rest of the gang to think on things we like and are grateful for each day. I hope you hop over to visit LeeAnna and the others to enjoy their likes for the week too!
Home. While I like going on trips, I love coming home. To my bed, my house, and my cat.
This was much of the scene last night after we got home. There was much cuddling, and (hoarse) meowing, and nuzzling.
Campfires. There is nothing more peaceful and settling than a campfire. When it’s on the shores of Lake Superior on a lovely, warm evening, so much the better.
We didn’t get to spend as much time by the lake as we had hoped, but we enjoyed it anyway. So peaceful.
Fall colors. The leaves were just beginning to change as we arrived up north. On the way home, we were amazed at how quickly it is changing. Peak season is right on the doorstep.
This is just a peek on the drive up to the cabin. There was much more color around us as we made our way home.
Aurifil Wool Thread. I’ve been doing some big stitches on a quilt this weekend. One of the threads I used was this tan Aurifil wool. I hadn’t used it before. It works beautifully with flannels and homespun fabrics.
I hope to have this quilt finished to post either tomorrow or Saturday. The combination of this thread with the fabrics, along with Hobbs 80/20 batting makes me want to whip up a flannel quilt for fall!
Nature walks. Okay, this was really a walk from the shore to the cabin, so not really a nature walk, per se. However, it is a walk through nature, and this little gathering around this unusual mushroom made me smile.
I was struck at how I have to work at staging photos of my quilts, while nature stages everything for me. This was a quick snap as we were leaving the cabin, so I apologize for the blur.
That’s my I Like Thursdays for this week. Thanks for stopping in to read my post!
Happy Thursday, everyone!
Wendy

Hi Wendy, Do you live in the UP? I am from Oshkosh, WI, but my boyfriend lives in Escanaba and we do lots of hiking around Lake Superior. Beautiful!

Hi Wendy! Aww, that is such a sweet shot of Wilber. I’ll bet you were missed terribly, and the other way around, too. I love traveling but nothing beats coming home to your own bed and your normal routine. It sure makes you appreciate it more, doesn’t it?! ~smile~ Roseanne

Love the lake photos!

Coming home to animals is always so wonderful. Love that campfire. We have lots of gold and yellow here in the trees; I find that color so inviting. Didn’t know Aurofil made wool thread. Cool.

I agree there is no place like home! I love the Aurifil Lana Wool for doing hand stitching on wool and flannel. Great pics and likes

I am so jealous of your campfire on the beach!! That wool thread looks great on your project. Yes we could use a flannel quilt to snuggle with in the evenings now. And just a few days ago 80’s and so humid!

That campfire looks so inviting and so relaxing! Add a marshmallow on a stick and voila! perfection! 🙂

Your spot by the lake with a campfire looks wonderful, Wendy! People like to make campfires on the beach here on the Oregon coast, and I always think that looks like fun. Home is good, too – looks like Wilbur agrees! I didn’t know there was wool thread. I’ll look forward to seeing what you’re doing with it!

I like everything that you like, Wendy! Except the wool thread, and that’s only because I’ve never heard of it before. But I’m sure it’s very likable!

Wilbur looks pretty happy to see you. That campfire next to the lake made me want to be there.

Love the campfire photo!

Glad to know I’m not alone as having been away from I Like Thursdays for a few weeks. 🙂 September went like a flash. There’s a crisp chill in the air. I wouldn’t mind hanging by that beach fire of yours.

Second mushrooms on the like/love Thursdays I have read! Love coming home too after travel.

These are wonderful photos all Wendy, but what you said at the end really struck me. It’s so very true. Wow that tree! We don’t have any like that yet but they’re coming I know, and I love it; I always think it looks like they’ve been dipped in orange icing. Ahhh Lake Superior.
