June Monthly Color Challenge Block

It’s June 1st, and that means it’s time to share my June Monthly Color Challenge Block for the 2021 Monthly Color Challenge hosted by Patterns by Jen.

This is my third year joining in on the challenge. This year, Jen has offered two sizes of blocks to choose from, a 6-inch finished block or a 12-inch. I’ve chosen to make the 6-inch version.

If you are new to this challenge, you can find out all the information at Patterns by Jen, just click on this link. That link will give you the overview for the challenge, the theme (fruits and veggies) and you can see the amazing list of sponsors (yes, there are prizes!!). The blocks are basic and easy to construct, so there is plenty of time to join in and catch up. Each month, the block design is free for that month, after that, the blocks are available at Jen’s site for a small fee.

June’s inspiration is pumpkin, so I thought I’d pull out my favorite little pumpkin (no, it’s not Wilbs, my orange cat!!) for a photo shoot.

Okay, true confession. My favorite way to enjoy pumpkin is ceramic, on a shelf. I’m not a big fan of pumpkin – not pumpkin pie, or pumpkin spiced lattes – nope. Still, I do love the orange colors in this block!

This little 6-inch version might look intimidating, but it isn’t. Jen’s instructions makes it simple and the block goes together in a snap. The most challenging part might be picking those luscious orange fabrics!

Now that you’ve seen my version, take a minute or two and check out the others who are posting their blocks today. It’s a veritable pumpkin patch of blocks! Here’s the list:

Are you sewing along? If so, I hope you enjoy making your June Monthly Color Challenge block. I look forward to seeing it. If you’re not sewing along, join us! We’d love to have you!

So what about you? Are you a pumpkin fan or no? Leave a comment and let me know.

Happy Stitching, all!

Wendy

Cute block! Pumpkin pie is one of my favorites — no whip. Pumpkin bars with cream cheese frosting are also high on my favorites. And the Culver’s pumpkin shake — yum!

Oooh, it’s a perfect pumpkin block — the colours and the design really do resemble a pumpkin.
I hope Wilbur is not sulking. I would have thought your pet name (ha ha) for him would have been Pumpkin!

I love the orange fabrics you chose! I’m not a fan of anything pumpkin — orange/black and white were the kids high school colors and my home is filled with orange memories!

When I saw the photo at the top (and before I read the post) I thought…”It must be pumpkins!” Love the colors and your patchwork is perfect. I love pumpkin pie and pumpkin bread. Too bad Wilbs wasn’t in there too.

  • Quilting is in my Blood

I like your version of this block A LOT! Your pumpkin fabric is right on the money. I’m also not a big fan of pumpkin, except my dad made a really good pumpkin bread that I was always happy to eat.

I like Pumpkin in all forms….fudge, bread, pie, chili and yes in a latte. It is one of the things that makes fall! Now, your block is beautiful and I would never have guessed you didn’t love pumpkin.

What a gorgeous block! I’m excited to do pumpkin in June, and I think it’s fun for Jenn to mix things up like that. 😉 Now, I am a pumpkin lover, from growing them (very little success) to eating it in every form, including pumpkin soup! 😀
