Katherine’s SAHRR

I want to share Katherine’s SAHRR with you today. If you’ve been following me throughout the Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR), you’ve likely seen previous posts where I’ve shown Katherine’s progress. Today I’m showing her finished quilt.

This is Katherine’s first time joining us for the SAHRR, and the first time she’s ever done anything like this. She loves earthy greens, so she wanted to keep it monochromatic. I like her blend of fabrics, and the addition of the light green and red really adds energy!

Here’s a close up of her center block:

You can also see her elongated spool border – I love that blue teal in there!

She even snuck in a pieced backing, and you can see more of her quilting in this photo, too!

Here are a few more highlights Katherine shared about her quilt:

  • Fabrics chosen were all batiks from her scrap baskets, along with one yardage for the borders
  • The added batik strip on the quilt back is also from her stash
  • The leaves in the center block are Cherrywood fabric
  • It was quilted on an older model Bernina with a walking foot and minimal free motion using Presencia thread
  • If she could change anything, she would make the hourglass blocks a bit more prominent and the red orange a little less prominent (I love the red orange pop – don’t you?)

Katherine’s quilt finishes at 44 inches square. She said it “was a handful to quilt” since she usually makes smaller quilts. I think she did a fantastic job!

And with Katherine’s SAHRR, that is a wrap on the SAHRR quilts from Pieceful Thoughts! Thanks for stopping by!
