Little Progress
I made very little progress this week. I had big plans for finishing a couple of my quilts. Then I got a head cold, so I’ve been resting most of the week.
I did make progress on the Kim Diehl mini quilt. My reason for making this little quilt now was to use the leftover scraps for my Moda Blockheads 2 blocks. I had to chuckle, because this mini quilt really used the fabric well. This is all I have left from that project.
So, I maybe won’t get too much mileage out of those little scraps. On the other hand, I know there are more of those really small HSTs coming up, so you never know, these little pieces may come in handy!
Here’s how far I managed to get on the Kim Diehl quilt. Once I get the border pieces on, I’ll give you the pattern name and all those details. The quilt will finish at 20 inches square.
Notice how Wilbur (yes, that name seems to have stuck, but he still doesn’t answer to it or any other name) is color coordinating with the quilt.
I would’ve finished the quilt top today, but I made four 4-patches, all wrong (rip, rip), ran out of bobbin thread one inch before I was done sewing a row (argh), noticed that the bottom row of this quilt should be flipped (after sewing), so that the red is opposite the red in the top row. Clearly I should not sew something like this while fuzzy-brained from a head cold.
I am getting better each day, so maybe I’ll have a finished quilt to show you on Monday. I hope you have had a better, more productive week in your sewing room. What have you been up to?

I sympathise — it spoils the fun of sewing when one thing after another goes wrong. Well done on producing that lovely starry piece despite your fuzzy hear. Why not curl up in a corner with Wilbur for the weekend?!

Thanks, Mariss. I think I will do some cuddling with him this weekend!

That’s a lovely use of your scraps and fun that it matches your cat. I hope you are feeling better now 🙂

Thank you, Janine. I’m feeling better today!

That’s a cute quilt with a lot of small pieces. You’re right—a lot to tackle with a cold. I hope you feel better soon. And I’m glad to see Wilbur take on his role of quilt model. He’s a handsome fellow.
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Tracie, I’m feeling much better today. When Wilbur relaxes, he really relaxes. haha.

sometimes when we have a cold we tend to make more mistakes don’t we. Wilbur is a cute name for the cat
piecefulwendy
Oh, definitely, Karen! Thanks!

Wendy, your mini quilt is beautiful — love the colors! I’ve been sick this week also and spent more time with my ripper than I wanted to. Glad you are feeling better!
piecefulwendy
Hope you are feeling better today, Karla! Thanks!

Yeah, I don’t think well when I’m sick, either. Add in some antihistimines and it’s zombie city! I really like that woven sashing effect on your mini. Feel better soon!
piecefulwendy
Oh yes, that is zombieville. Thankfully I got through this one without any. I feel much better today.

Wilbur is an excellent prop for the colors in your quilt. He likes the way the quilt shows off his beautiful furs.
piecefulwendy
Yes, he’s adapting to quilt prop pretty well. Who knew I’d get a cat that coordinates so well with some of my quilts!

Your mini quilt looks great! I love the cozy, warm colors – and Wilbur posing perfectly next to it, too! I’ve had those moments when sewing – you just can’t do anything right, so you know it’s just time to quit and go read a book or something. Hope you’re starting to feel better!
piecefulwendy
My day went much better today. Thanks!

Well, it wasn’t a big sewing week for either of us! I tried to make a couple of blocks and after making the same mistake twice, I switched to the little hospital gowns. Those are much simpler. Glad you are feeling better Wendy – being down with a bug is a drag. Love the mini you are making – great colors Won’t be much of a sewing weekend for me as we have family for the weekend. It will all wait until Monday!
piecefulwendy
Enjoy your family time, Bernie!

Good Morning GPoS! I am sorry you have been feeling poorly. Wilbur is the sweetest quilting assistant ever. How nice of him to coordinate with your current project. Did you know you should underlings sewing everything for you when you have a fuzzy head?! And maybe even other times without a fuzzy head, just to remind them of their place. I LOVE Kim Diehl, and those fabrics are just perfect for this. Ooh-la-la I love stars. Happy Friday to you!! ~smile~ Roseanne
piecefulwendy
Happy Friday, Roseanne! I finished the top today!

The mini is looking lovely. Sometimes those colds do just hang on don’t they! I am sure that is what interfered with the brain waves and caused the glitches. Hope it is all resolved over the weekend.
piecefulwendy
I finished the top today, only had to rip once after flipping the bottom row. 😊

Feel better soon! Love how Wilbur-what’shisname 🙂 is lying beside ‘his’ quilt…
piecefulwendy
Much better today. Lately his name is “no bite”. 😂

Hope you are feeling better soon!

Thanks, Dione. I’m doing much better.

Feel better soon; btw I see I need to send you the KD bundle I’ve been saving for you

Ha! That’s my problem, I’m ‘fuzzy-brained’ most of the time and I can’t even blame it on a head cold or anything else! 🙂 I hope you are on the mend Wendy and feel better soon. Your little quilt is adorable, and Wilbur coordinates with it perfectly!

Hi Wendy. I’ve been down with the flu for six days now and I reallyreallyreally need to get my Texture Quilt finished for The Endeavourers reveal this week. I never would have noticed the lack-of-flippage on the third row of your charming little quilt. Happy accidents?
Smiles from Maureen at Josephine Ballerina
piecefulwendy
Oh, hope you are better soon! I flipped the row, so I feel better now. Rest and get well!
laughinggasquilts
Oh Wendy, I feel your frustration. The good news is that the little quilt is sweet, the cold will go away, and the cat hairs won’t show when Wilbur decides to nap on it. Good luck with the finish.
