Little Projects
Little projects were the theme for the remainder of my week. I had planned to sew like a maniac Wednesday and Thursday, but then I thought about all the weeds taking over our flower beds. So I tackled that project (I’m not quite done) and then rewarded myself with some little projects.
Thank you all for encouraging me to submit the red, white and blue block. I knew I needed to do it, but having a little nudge sure helps!
Not a Fail, but . . .
You know how it is when you get an idea in your head for something, and you are positive it’s going to come out just great, and then you make it and you’re like, meh? I moved forward with my bearded men/buffalo plaid idea. I could take you down the rabbithole of my thoughts as I was putting this project together, ‘cuz it all made sense in my brain, but I won’t bore you with it. Suffice it to say, it didn’t work, so it’s back to the drawing board. You’ll have to wait a bit longer to see the outcome.
The Eyes Have It
I am addicted to little pouches, the zippered ones that are everywhere. I make this one from Missouri Star just because easy peasy and can be made in any size.
My small makeup case is looking a little road weary and it’s pink suede which is really not me. At all. I just use it because it was free. So it is time to make another one and I had just the fabric for it. The cream fabric is from the Hello Ollie collection for Art Gallery Fabrics; the polka dot green is just a piece from my stash. Isn’t the AGF piece perfect for a makeup pouch?
I used the green polka dot for the lining. Lime green is such a happy color!
And a little touch of lime green on the bottom. I love how that turned out!
It’s a little narrow for my hand, but I think it will work out just fine. If not, I’ll just make another!
Baby Quilt Update
The two baby quilts are in Connie’s capable hands now; I can’t wait to see what she does with them! Actually I brought Connie 4 baby quilts, but two of them are tops I’ve had for much too long and just need to get done, so it will be fun to see what she does with those too!
Have a great weekend everyone!

Yes that eyelash fabric is the best for a makeup pouch! Nothing wrong with little projects-they are still a finish:)

Love how you covered the ends of the zipper. And the boxy bottom is stand-up great. Have a great weekend!!!

You would have loved all the zippered pouches in the quilt shop I visited yesterday.

Love the little pouch! I’ve made several of those for grandkids and myself. And your fabric choice was perfect. Little projects are what we need some days! Enjoy your weekend!

The fabric for your pouch is great. I love the extra details that can be done with these sorts of little projects. The surprise of the polka dots on the bottom and the finished zip tab make it so fun.

Wendy, I don’t think you could have picked better fabrics for that make-up bag. Those eyelashes are perfect! –Andrea

That bag is super cute. Especially with the lime green hiding inside and underneath.

Your makeup purse is very lovely! I’ve been itching for some little projects to complete too. This could be a good one thanks ?.

Nice to sneak in some small projects. Life is smoothing out a a bit, so maybe some more quilting next week.

I love that you found time for the little things, I get too caught up with making large things which don’t get finished like the small things. I have a boatload of zippers which I intend to make zipper pouches but never do so your post today is an inspiration. FYI, it was the lime green that caught my eye when I was scrolling down the blog feed and after stopping, I realized it was your post. Anything lime green always catches my eye.

Yummmm, lime green! It’s a fun color, and perfect for your little bag. Thanks for reminding me to get myself out to the flower bed – I’ve been putting it off for the past few days. 😉 I’d much rather be quilting! It will be fun to see the baby quilts when they are finished.
