Little Sewing
Although there has been little sewing going on, I do have a few things to show you. I’m linking up with Texas Quilt Gal for her To Do Tuesday linky party.
On my to do list for last week:
- Finish the Test Pattern Quilt – Progress, but not quite done
- Start Queen of Gadgets Project – Nope, ideas still brewing
While there’s been little sewing, I have done a bit of fabric acquisition. Here’s an impulse buy to show you. Pineapple Fabrics had a cat fabric special – I couldn’t resist.
Aren’t they fun? I don’t have any plans for these, so they’ll just be added to my collection. I’m confident I’ll find the purrfect quilt for them at some point.
My current diversion happened while I was cleaning and organizing. I came across a little pack of Tula Pink All Stars precut hexies given to me by my daughter. They measured 3-1/2″ unfinished. I suddenly needed to stop cleaning (heh) and make something with them! After making this hexagon mini, I knew what I wanted to do. I cut up some 2-1/2″ triangles and came up with this.
It’s not perfect, but the top is done. And yes, I do know that there are two matching hexies in the middle of the quilt – I had 22 dots and 20 stripes, so I decided to put two right in the center in a color that wasn’t too bold. I think it works. The top measures 26″ square. I’m pretty sure I know how I want to quilt this, once I find backing and binding fabric. I don’t have much Tula in my stash, so I might have to do more shopping 🙂
For this week, my list will be:
- Complete Test Pattern quilt top
- Finalize Queen of Gadgets project
- Quilt the hexie top
What’s happening in your sewing room? Little sewing, or lots?

Love your hexi quilt! I’m still trying to wrap my mind around how you put that together and such perfect matching things up! I just got some Tula Pink and trying to figure out what to do with it. Some are in that little quilt. Guess I will just have to get my mind a working. Just finished up some embroidery for someone and have a quilt waiting to be quilted downstairs. Deciding on quilting patterns to use on it?? So fun seeing all your projects!

I think this one is just what your mojo needed! And I am sure it thanks you for stopping cleaning and jumping right in!!! And of course your project reminded me of my Tula UFO quilt tucked away.

Such an adorable hexi quilt. Love the fabric acquisition….I have been resisting. Can’t wait to see how you bind/back the hexies, although I might just do a facing rather than border. Love when you find something fun to make like this project!

Your new cat fabrics are adorable , Wendy! I bet you’ll find a fun place to use them. I love the hexagon mini, too – those precut hexies sound really handy. Do you have a special technique for getting all those different seams to line up? I tried a design similar to that not long ago, but couldn’t get things to line up, so I gave up! 😪

Of course you had to stop doing the cleaning chores and sew those delightful hexies. It is a gorgeous piece and I am sure it is going to brighten up your space once it is quiilted. You could use one of those purrrfect purchases to back it — just saying !!
