Lynx Star Quilt
Today I am happy to share with you my two versions of the Lynx Star Quilt, the newest pattern released by Lucky Penny Quilts. Take a moment to read on, because I have a special discount to share with you at the end of the post!
Lucky Penny Quilts is a quilt pattern design business started by two quilters from my local quilt group, Jessie and Nissa. I was delighted to have the opportunity to test this pattern for them and show them my support. You can follow their business and purchase their patterns on Instragram at @luckypennyquilts. The direct link to their Payhip shop can be found right here – but read on first!
The Lynx Star Quilt comes in multiple sizes, ranging from Baby to Queen. My first test was the Throw size at 60-inches square. All of the fabrics used in this quilt are from my stash. The background fabric is True Love by Libs Elliott – Mathcore (Andover). The other fabrics were a mix from my stash and scraps, a blend of fabrics from other quilts I’ve made.
The Lynx Star pattern is well constructed and explained, and goes together quickly. There are no Y-seams at all, thanks to a unique little trick shared in the pattern. I did the cutting one day, sewing the next, and the quilt top was completed.
A few things I like about the Lynx Star Quilt pattern:
- Simple yet attractive design
- A coloring page – so helpful in choosing a color layout
- Versatile – different fabrics, different look
- Fast and easy with clear instructions
I enjoyed making Lynx Star so much, I decided to make the Baby size using reproduction fabrics from my stash.
This size finishes at 30 inches. Notice how the deep vibrant reproduction fabrics gives the quilt a whole different look than the first version, but both are pretty, don’t you think? I like patterns that have that versatility.
I hope I’ve tempted you to give the Lynx Star Quilt a try. How about I entice you just a bit more?? Lucky Penny Quilts has given me a special code to share with you today.
From now until November 24th, use the code “PIECEFUL10” to purchase the Lynx Star Quilt pattern from Lucky Penny Quilts (the code only works for the Lynx Star pattern) and you will get a 10% discount on the cost of the pattern. This would be a great pattern for that quilt you need to make for a Christmas gift, baby gift, wall hanging, etc. – or just a treat for yourself! I do hope you will stop by Lucky Penny Quilts (@luckypennyquilts) on Instagram and pick up a pattern – give them a follow too, while you are there, won’t you? If you are not on Instagram, the direct link to their Payhip shop is right here. Happy shopping! –
If you purchase a pattern and make a Lynx Star Quilt, I’d love to know, and be sure to post a photo on Instagram at the hashtag #lynxstarquilt and tag @luckypennyquilts. I know Jessie and Nissa would be delighted to see your version!
Happy quilting, all!
Wendy

Yes both versions are pretty, but wow on the baby quilt! I love the background and the way the pattern pops with your fabric/color placement. I’m headed over to buy the pattern – you are a great advertisement for it. 🙂

Neat pattern! I’m glad to hear that it goes together easily and quickly, perfect for a baby quilt. And you went above and beyond by trying it in two different fabric styles 🙂

Love your different versions. It’s amazing how a change of fabric pattern and color can change the whole look. It’s a unique design. Great table topper.

Love both these versions! What I like about this pattern is it uses many different fabrics, not just three or four.

I can’t tell you which version I like better. I’m not a reproduction fan but this quilt is really wonderful. I love the bright colors that make the design stand out. So beautiful! I think you are a great pattern tester and you could easily be my fabric shopper!

Finally, the wait is over and I can see what you’ve been secretly working on. Those are really pretty, I don’t know which one I like best. You are such a good tester!!

Aren’t those neat?! Looks like you had fun being a pattern tester! I like the modern look of that design, and your fun mix of fabrics in each quilt. Congratulations to your friends on their pattern release!
Quilting is in my Blood
The different fabrics really create very different looking quilts. It’s funny. I’m normally more drawn to more modern looking quilts like your first one, but the second one is actually my favorite. But they’re both winners! If I ever have a pattern to test, I’m definitely asking you!

Hi Wendy! I don’t think of you when I think of reproduction fabrics but I think your choices are spot on in your second version. They are both so different but SO cool. I adore that last shot of the center star and a closeup of the fabrics used. Ooh-la-la! I love it. ~smile~ Roseanne
