Mini Retreat Fun

Mini Retreat — a couple of days with a quilty friend that involved chattering and sewing. It doesn’t get much better than that. Toss in a pretty setting and some sunshine and it’s all good!

Vicki from Vicki’s Crafts and Quilting invited me to her house for the mini retreat. She lives about an hour from me, so I packed up my sewing things and off I went! Once I had all my things into her house, it was pretty much sewing, except for chatter breaks, where we solved all the world’s problems, quilty or no. It was great fun. Take a peek at Vicki’s blog and see what she got done — she was in a binding mood and her machine was hummin’!

In the meantime, I was working on two baby quilts. One top is finished and the other is well on its way. I got all the pieces done for the second quilt, so I should be able to get the blocks together soon.

Here’s a peek at the progress on the mini periwinkle quilt.

Here’s the completed quilt top. I kept the design simple, using just the charm pack squares and soft grey squares. This is a really soft, pretty combination.

I’m using Sugar Pie by Lella Boutique for both of these quilts. There will be one more out of this line too before I’m done. I’m looking forward to meeting all the baby girls who will be cuddled in these quilts!

Then I decided to take a quick break from the baby quilts and played a little with this charm pack of The Wordsmith fabric by Janet Clare of Moda. So far, I’ve made HSTs with the darks and lights. Now I’ll play with them a bit and see where I go from there. I love the color combinations in this fabric.

So what are you sewing? A new project? Finishing something up? I’d love to hear what you are doing!

Happy Friday, friends! The weekend is here!

Sounds like you and VIcki had a wonderful day! Your little baby quilt top is so pretty. Sometimes simple squares are just the right thing, and they go together fast and easy.

No sewing for me this week. We’re having several batches of guests who will stay in the sewing studio, which has been converted temporarily back into the guest room.

These look great Wendy! I am sewing my #freefallqal, maybe a little embroidery project, prepping a quilt for the long arm, prepping two others for domestic machine quilting. Also, need to look at my UFO projects which have taken a back seat lately!
