My quilting Life
Hello! Welcome to my little corner of the quilting world!
I’m joining up with Benita of Victoriana Quilt Designs for the 2019 Quilters Meet and Greet. Thanks go to Benita for gathering us all together, and for pulling together some fabulous giveaways too! More about that at the end of this post.
If you’re new to my blog, I’m Wendy. I live in Minnesota, and this is my blog, Pieceful Thoughts of My Quilting Life. A place where I share bits and pieces of what I’m sewing, piecing and quilting from day to day. I’ve been blogging since 2016, but I’ve been quilting for about 25 years. During those years, I was a busy mom to our two kids (now grown), and worked as a legal assistant to my husband in our law practice. Quilting is where my creative side gets to play and have fun.
My quilting tastes vary, depending on my mood. Actually, it depends on how many distractions come my way. In my circles, those distractions are known as squirrels (there’s even a linky party for them!).
Traditional
My Little Boy Blue mini quilt is a recent traditional finish.
Modern
My black and white mini that I submitted to Curated Quilts for their mini quilt challenge.
Whimsical
Sometimes, I have fun with whimsical quilts, like Lucille the Llama.
Improv
My favorite is improv, where I can play with no instructions, no rules. Just my sewing machine, fabric, my rotary cutter and me. Autumn Drive is one of my improv pieces, and a favorite of mine.
We took this one with us on a road trip and had a fun photo shoot while we were there.
Many of the quilts I make are mini. I have a small sewing space so it’s easier for me to create and finish small quilts. However, I have a few larger quilts in the works through quilt alongs and blocks of the month. I’m currently finishing this larger throw quilt, which was a mystery quilt for Minnesota Quilters and designed by fellow Minnesotan, Suzy Webster.
I find so much inspiration from my online community, it’s no wonder I have so many distractions a/k/a squirrels raising a ruckus in my quilt room! I love every minute of it.
Thanks for stopping by my little piece of the quilting community today. If you’ve enjoyed the visit, I hope you’ll follow my blog. Before you go, be sure to swing over to visit Benita and the other quilters and get to know them too!
And don’t forget the Great Grand Giveaway – you don’t want to miss it!
Happy quilting, friends!
Wendy

In my quilting world, we call them chickens- as in distracted by anything ‘sparkly’…. I have made several Chicken Quilts because of this… and now I have a coop of chickens, (that are not necessarily distracted by sparkly, but just let a wasp fly in!!!). Zoom, off they go!

Blues, B&W, and then along came Llama!!! That is a stunner.
