Nine Patch Challenge
I have my Nine Patch Challenge quilt top to show you today. Months and ages ago, I did a fun little quilt along with Emily of The Darling Dogwood. Emily was motivated to finish her quilt, since she was gifting it to one of her son’s teachers at the end of the school year. You can see Emily’s pretty version here.
Not having the motivation Emily had to finish, my little quilt top is still waiting for a backing and quilting. I definitely enjoy creating the quilt tops, and drag my feet on the finishing! Anyway, here’s my quilt top, which measures 46″ x 54″.
I chose to use Grunge Mustard for the background fabric. The nine patch units are made using a High Adventure charm pack from Riley Blake, along with a Kona Snow charm pack. Here’s a close up so you can see those High Adventure fabrics a bit easier.
Emily and I have done three quilt alongs together. You can see my other two here and here. We enjoy keeping it low key and sewing at a pace that works for both of us.
This pattern is from the book, Just One Charm Park Quilts by Cheryl Brickey, and Nine Patch Challenge is the name of the pattern. The book is full of quick quilts using – just one charm pack. It’s a great little book for your quilting library (no affiliation).
That’s my finished top to show you; now I just need to get my Nine Patch Challenge to the fully-finished line!
Happy Friday, all!
Wendy

The mustard shows off the patches brilliantly.

I love how this quilt top came together! The grunge and red centers have just the right amount of wow factor. I have this quilt pattern cut out and tucked away for a fun winter project.

Love it!! I wouldn’t have thought of using the mustard for a background. I definitely love it in your quilt top!

The mustard grunge is an awesome background! Love the red centers. I drag my feet on finishing too. I am very fond of nine patches and recently bought a book called I Love Nine Patches, 😀

I love this! The mustard grunge is perfect with the blocks.

Wow, that mustard makes this the cheeriest quilt on the block, Wendy!!!

That mustard Grunge background is fabulous, Wendy! You are so good with color. I really like the simplicity of this design with just 9 patches and background, but your color choices and then turning them on point makes all the difference. I haven’t looked at that book yet – are there other quilts you’d like to make in it?

Nine-patch quilts are great, and this one is no exception! Terrific choice with the mustard background! Love it! 🙂

Perfect little quilt. Yellow is always so cheery, and it really makes those 9-patches pop. It really does look like mustard!
Quilting is in my Blood
This is one of the prettiest nine-patch quilts I’ve ever seen. That gold-yellow grunge works perfectly for your background fabric. I have Cheryl’s book too. I may have to make this quilt someday.

I love it, the mustard makes it old but also modern at the same time!

Love the Grunge! I have yet to meet a bolt of Grunge I haven’t loved… Very pretty quilt top – what is it about the finishing!??!
