Other SAHRR Progress

I have some other SAHRR progress to share with you today. Eva and Katherine have been busy working on their quilts, so let’s take a look at their progress. You can see their previous work in this post.

Eva’s SAHRR Progress

Eva loves to do improv, and she has been using the work of Freddy Moran as inspiration for her SAHRR quilt. For her star border, she wanted to make her favorite wonky stars. She’s made enough of these and thought they would be a quick border to add. but while they look like fast stars to construct, sometimes it takes longer than anticipated. She didn’t really have a plan, just got to work. Then she realized that the stars would look better with a black center, but she had run out of time to work on them last week, so she is catching up a bit. After a few conversations between us, she finally decided she had to quit over thinking and just get them done. Of course, they look great!

For the corner blocks, she used this week’s prompt, the sliced block. It took some thinking for her to come up with the right color combinations, and we had several conversations and photos going back and forth. I think she came up with a good solution. Here are close up photos of her two blocks.

Eva says her fabric choices for this quilt are running low now and she will have to deep dive into her fabric bins to see what she can use. I look forward to seeing what she comes up with next!

Katherine’s SAHRR Progress

Katherine is working with fabrics from Hawaii, and constructing a banner quilt. Here is her progress so far.

She made two different stars for Border 3, which I think was clever, don’t you? The added sliced blocks work well with the rest of the quilt.

It’s always fun to see other SAHRR progress, both for the creativity and for the inspiration! I hope you are inspired by these two quilters.

Wendy, it’s so kind of you to post our progress pictures. Eva’s has so much interest and color that it could be looked at a long time and still miss something.
    Happy sewing.

It’s always so interesting to see the different ways each quilter interprets the border prompts! I really like Eva’s colorful pieces mixed in with the black and white dots. Katherine’s more muted colors are really striking, too, and I love those stars! Thanks for sharing these, Wendy!

Two very different but equally striking quilts. Eva’s work makes me smile because of the bright colours and jolly combinations, while Catherine’s evokes a mellow mood with the muted Grays and blacks and the stylish construction.
    Great work!

I love these two very different versions. Eva’s stars and sliced blocks are so much fun and it definitely looks Freddy Moran-ish! Catherine’s is just going to be so much fun with the wonderful panel and variety of blocks she chose. I love the idea of a banner quilt for SAHRR.

The stars of Catherine are wonderful and I would love to know how to do these. And I love the idea to have fabric from Hawaii!!! It is completely different from mine – but I love it. Create your own sunshine – it a good motto to have good vibes to go through the week. I think all who participate do this and all who love to sew know how much joy it brings to create nice things. Thanks to all hosts – they prepared the way for many of us to create our own sunshine!!!
Many thanks to all who commented with so many nice and lovely words here our progress. .. :-))))
