Paddlin’ Along
I’ve been paddlin’ along this week and last, continuing to work on my secret sewing. Thought I’d join in with Texas Quilt Gal and her To Do Tuesday Linky Party today, and share a little of what else is happening in my sewing room.
By the way, the photo above is from a night on one of the Padelford Riverboats in St. Paul. In this photo, you are looking at the confluence of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers. It was a beautiful evening for a boat ride!
In my last To Do Tuesday post, my goals were to keep on with the secret sewing. Here’s my progress:
- Test Pattern – Progress! Blocks are done.
- Queen of Gadgets Blog Hop – still thinkin’ on this one
I have managed to sneak in a few little squirrel projects while all that secret sewing is going on. I made two more ice cream cozies (on request from my daughter).
If you’re interested in the pattern, you can find the link to the pattern in this post. I had just enough of that ice cream fabric to make one more cozie.
Of course, I had to make a grocery store run to pick up ice cream, so I can give my cozie a try. While I was there, I happened across these cute little fellas.
I have a thing for face planters, so I had to stop and admire these, and send a photo to my daughter. Imagine my surprise when I got to the check out and found that one of them had jumped into my cart! Cheeky.
While cleaning up my ice cream cozie project, I just couldn’t toss the left over triangles, which were cut off of the fused squares. I decided to square them up and make a little mini quilt. It was a little challenging sewing HSTs that had fusible fleece adhered to them, but it worked. It’s a small little mat measuring 9.5″ x 12.5″, perfect for my side table by my chair.
This week, I’m going to keep paddlin’ along on my secret sewing projects. What about you – are you paddlin’ along, too, working on some fun projects? Tell me about it, maybe I’ll be inspired with something fun!

Those face planters are too cute, I can see how one would perhaps have jumped into your cart. I have had orchids do the same..lol
Karen
I love those planters – one of them probably would have jumped into my cart too!
Cathy
Things have a habit of jumping into my basket too. Love the icecream fabric and the projects

Those planers are adorable. Your ice cream cozies are very cute. I don’t eat a lot of ice cream but DH would need a handy half-gallon size for his ice cream as he eats it right out of the carton as well!

Yes, paddling along here up north! It’s shop hop time, so a lot of the paddling is at the quilt shop. Nice bonus table mat!!!

I’m saving the link to the ice cream cozies. You’re right about it being a good Christmas gift. I have a friend in soCal who loves ice cream, and he would like one, I’m sure. I like your little mini. I save my bonus triangles in a big jar and take them along on our rainbird trips. They make good projects when you’re just trying to sew something…anything.

I didn’t know you had a thing for face planters! And it just jumped into your cart, LOL. Did you just recently go on the boat ride? We were thinking of doing the TI one for our Anniversary, but found out they haven’t had it in service this year. Happy paddlin’ !

(Hallelujah Bloglovin’ actually worked this morning!!). ICE CREAM COZIES!?! It took me a second and then I realized what they were for and OH. MY. GOODNESS. does Hubs need one of these!!! Actually, I would love it even more because I always have to wrap a napkin around it but do I need encouraged to eat more ice cream? I think not! LOL. Of course, if I’m going to make one, I might as well make two! ;o) Definitely going on my to-do list!

Funny how things jump into our carts. Must be some connection to squirrels . . . That is a cute little mini. I love the ice cream cozies but we never buy pints – always half gallons because we are pigs when it comes to ice cream.
Thanks for sharing your paddling with us at To Do Tuesday!

i love face planters too….

Adorable face planters, and the bonus mat is sweet, too! 🙂

That’s a beautiful photo on the river, Wendy! We got to go on a paddleboat ride on the Mississipi several years ago – it was a great experience. I love your ice cream cozies, and you found the perfect fabric for them, too! Love that you saved those cutoffs and made such an adorable mini out of them.

All the little photos in your blog were great. But the one that drew me in was the one from the boat. What a lovely photo and so glad that you enjoyed that evening ride. The little mat really is a bonus, nice for a cup of tea and a sweetie!!

Ice cream cozies?! SEW cute (and so is that new mini quilt, Wendy!!!)

What a pretty photo from the boat. It looks so serene. I also really like your small HST mat. Sometimes those little projects can be so satisfying.

That ride on the rivers looks so lovely! You are having fun with that ice cream fabric…you can serve the ice cream with the cozies and the bonus mat. I take it you put the small container in the cozy. Often I only take a few teaspoons but the cozy would enable me to have many more! Look forward to seeing your secret sewing!

I am sure anxious to see the secret sewing project that you’ve been dropping hints about. Happy to see you were chasing some squirrels and wow what a peaceful river scene. We need to hold onto feelings and sensations like that for January and February right?

What a clever idea — an icecream cozy. This should keep you cool through the summer months. The mini from the leftover triangles is delightful too.

Wendy I love your paddling along projects and that little planter is adorable.
