Parade Day!
It’s Parade Day, the day we get to see everyone’s Stay at Home Round Robin (SAHRR) quilts for 2025! I always look forward to the SAHRR parade, because it’s so much fun to see the variety of quilts from all of you!
I’m going to show my finish last, because I have something special I want to share about it. So let’s start with the quilts from Katherine and Eva.
Katherine’s Finish
Katherine created a pretty quilt banner this year, using fabrics from Hawaii. Her quilt finishes at 16 inches by 36 inches.

Katherine quilted her banner using straight stitching and cream-colored thread. Her binding is a steel blue Grunge. Here is a close up of some of her quilting.

She had a perfect tropical looking batik in her stash that she used for the backing. It matches really well, I think!

I’m so happy that Katherine joined in the SAHRR this year. Her banner is such a pretty and unique idea, and a great finish!
Eva’s Quilt
Eva. has been working hard on finishing her quilt top. She was a bit disappointed that she didn’t get her quilt completely finished, but it has been a delight to see her creativity. She put a fun twist on the kite block, and added those to the corners for the finishing touch to her quilt top.

I enjoy looking at her quilt with all the colors and prints. Eva said she really likes that kite block and will use it in future quilts. This quilt challenged Eva in many ways, and I’m so proud of her for keeping up on it while busy with her work and home life.
And guess what? Eva is delighted to share that she has finished her 2024 SAHRR quilt. She hand-quilted it – isn’t it pretty?

Eva says she is very proud of her finish, and she should be! This quilt was gifted to friends, and I’m sure the quilt will be loved and enjoyed for years to come.
My SAHRR Quilt

This may be my favorite SAHRR quilt I’ve made, although I feel that way about the other four, too. This quilt has a special meaning; I’ll share more about that in a bit. Connie did the quilting and, as always, she came up with something just right. For the center star (which was made from fabric diamonds in my bin of grandmother’s fabrics), she highlighted it with some fun quilting.

We have overcast skies today, and I couldn’t get a true coloring of the quilt close up. I apologize for that. The background is much more of a light denim blue, not gray. Anyway, you can see the swirls and loops surrounding the star.
The rest of the quilt is an all-over design and compliments the quilt well.

You can see the design better on the back of the quilt. I pieced the backing using a Bella Solid in Cheddar and a scrap of striped material that matched the colors in the quilt top.

This striped fabric is about 18″ wide and runs down the center of the backing. My finished quilt measures 49 inches square. It is bound with Faded Denim Grunge, the same fabric used as the background fabric in the quilt top.
This quilt is very celebratory to me with all the bright colors surrounding the star. but also for another reason. I have named my quilt, “Can You Hear Me Now?” In January of this year, I had a cochlear implant put in my right ear. I have been hard of hearing all my life, having very little hearing in my left ear. In the fall of 2023, I lost all the hearing in my right “good” ear, which left me profoundly hard of hearing/deaf. The cochlear implant has given me back the ability to hear once again. I am commemorating and celebrating that with this quilt, and that is the reason for the name.
I’m so glad it’s Parade Day, so we can celebrate all the lovely quilts you’ve created. Thanks so much for sewing along with us this year! And I want to thank Gail, the founder of SAHRR, along with the other co-hosts for this sew along. They are the best! Here they are, along with links to their blogs.

Surprising how different they all are. I love your fabrics. Pretty quilting too..
Daryl
Katherine & Eva’s quilts are wonderful! I especially like Eva’s wild and colorful prints as that is more my style and I am drawn to bright colors myself. Congratulations Eva for a lovely SAHRR 2024 finish too! I hadn’t been following along with all the SAHRR quilts in the past, just those blog I follow, so it is nice to see one from a previous year. How large is your 2025 and 2024 quilt, Eva? Wendy, your quilt is beautiful and I love the quilting on it too. How large is your quilt? Wendy I am so glad you can hear again too! That is the best of all, right? Well done you three: Katherine, Eva & Wendy!!!
Eva
Daryl, thank you so much. I followed the process of yours as well. The 2025 is big, will be around 83 x 83 inches, and will be hand quilted too! 2024 was around 77×77 inch. Happy week!

Love your quilt Wendy! It looks like a happy fun sunny quilt! Glad you can hear again!

Three beautiful and very different quilts. Congratulations to all for doing and finishing your round robins.
What wonderful news Wendy. The bright, happy quilt is a perfect celebration for the return of your hearing. I am so very glad for you
Eva
Mariss, thank you for your time to comment. Yes, most important is the return of hearing for Wendy and this she celebrates with her wonderful quilt. To finish or nearly finish is a good thing. In the middle of the weeks I am struggeling because I do not measure or count, just follow my feeling. And I am happy how it finished. Notas wonky as I wanted but a „a little bit colourfull and bw“ .. little…. Lol…. Happy fall for you!!!

Wendy these are lovely quilts! Eva’s is so bright and Katherine’s is a great plan and size! Your naming is perfect, I am so glad you are hearing again!
Quilting is in my Blood
Wow, what a lovely array of SAHRR quilts. I’m so impressed with Eva’s hand quilting and Katherine’s wall hanging is wonderful.
Eva
Thank you for your compliment, see from time to time your SAHRR in progress. Lovely work!! It is not easy to give a quilt away – but if it is loved in the new home .. and that is what your foto at your blog shows, we are happy! Happy week
Quilting is in my Blood
After 10 years of quilting, I have A LOT of quilts, so giving some away is definitely getting easier. Thanks for your kind words.

Sorry, I didn’t finish my previous comment. Eva’s 2025 SAHRR is so striking with her marvelous fabric choices. And the specialness of your 2025 SAHRR warms my heart! Congratulations!

Your quilt is gorgeous, Wendy. The denim and orange work wonderfully for showing off all those prompt blocks and I love the quilting 🙂
Katherine’s banner is really pretty and a lovely way to frame that inspirational quote and I love Eva’s wonderful, colourful quilts. The friends who received her beautiful 2024 SAHRR are very lucky 🙂

Well I’ll start with Katherine’s banner – it is so pretty with the Hawaiian prints and the outline quilting. That steel blue Grunge binding and the backing are both perfect. Eva’s quilt is so fun! Her fabrics and placement give the quilt a Jen Kingwell-ish look, which I love. And her 2024 finish is beautiful.
Your quilt is gorgeous. You incorporated the prompts so cohesively, and I love the way you made your Grandmother’s block the center, The backing is as pretty as the front, and Connie’s quilting just sets it all off nicely. And most of all I love the name of it and the meaning! It will always be a special quilt.
How wonderful to hear those sounds you’ve missed. And does Wilbs’ voice sound more melodious now? 😉
BTW, thank you for using the perfectly good word “deaf”, which was deemed “inappropriate” by those who know what is best for us (HA!) ,and the insulting “impaired” word used in its place. 🙂

Oh wow, not just one but four beautiful quilts to enjoy in this post – what a treat. I think it’s amazing that Katherine used her special fabric for her table runner. Eva’s quilt makes me smile, too, and it’s amazing that she put so much time hand quilting her 2023 SAHRR and gifted it to friends.
And I love the way your quilt finished, Wendy. The quilting really compliments your piecing beautifully. Congratulations on a successful cochlear implant!!
Diann@LittlePenguinQuilts
Wendy, you definitely saved the best news for last! Congratulations on the success of your cochlear implant – I’m so happy for you that you can hear again. That is the perfect name for your beautiful SAHRR in celebration of this big change for you! I loved seeing both Katharine’s and Eva’s quilts, too. Both beautiful and unique, and so fun to look at!

Well, that just made me tear up. Great name for the quilt, and what a lovely celebration through quilting. I’m so happy things are continuing to go well with the CI! Connie did a great job as always. Congrats to Eva for a hand-quilted finish! Oh my! (My one HQ project was started around…2006? and still going…)
Karen
glad you can hear again – one of my daughters is deaf in one ear and has a hearing aide – I’m sure if she ever lost all hearing she would want an implant too it is hard to be hearing impaired. I don’t think I have ever noticed some saying “hearing impaired” compared to “deaf” I hear both terms all the time. The quilts are really nice.

Such a great post. I love Katherine’s version, using her prized fabrics. Eva’s is so creative and I love that she gets it all done. She did well getting her top together and showing us her gorgeous finish from last year. Then, there is you wonderful quilt….so bright and cheery and such a wonderful celebration of you regaining your hearing! What a gift this year has been.

Wendy, congratulations on your implant! I’m sorry it was necessary but it is wonderful that it allows you to hear again. I lost the hearing in my left ear years ago now. They called it Sudden Hearing Loss and say that it rarely happens to both ears. I hope so…..my hearing in my right ear is very good. For years I listened to Rush Limbaugh who had two cochlear implants years apart and his story about that challenge for a radio talk host was so interesting.
I would love to see a straight-on photo of Eva’s quilt. I love the colors she has used! It is a bright and happy quilt. I’d love to have it hanging in my house!!!

All of you gals are so creative and have done spectacular with your quilts. I am so happy for you that your implant is brought you back to the hearing world!!!

All SAHRRs are fantastically different – congrats to all 3 of you! And how appropriate that your cheddar-esque LOUD quilt finished in time for you to hear it! I’m thrilled for the success of your ear-operation. Now maybe you can hear my ‘quilting music’ for real – HA! 😉

Thank you for sharing Katherine & Eva’s SAHRRs! They are so very creative!!! It’s fun to see them!
And we’re celebrating your “Can you hear me” quilt!!! YEAH!!! It’s beautiful!
I’m so very happy for you!!! I’m so happy that you are part of the SAHRR team!!!

Wonderful post Wendy! As with the other readers, I am so happy for you. The success of the cochlear implant is nothing short of miraculous!
An aside – my sister works as an ASL interpreter in the deaf community and I don’t believe the word deaf is politically incorrect??
Eva and Katherine – your SAHRR quilts are beautiful!

Hi Wendy! Your SAHRR quilt is beautiful! Eva and Katherine’s are lovely also. Congrats on your cochlear implant. A neighbor down the street also got one in October I believe and is very happy with it.
How is Wilbur doing? Haven’t seen any pictures of him lately.

As always, your work is perfection!!! I love the balance of this quilt, everything just flows from round to round. Congrats on a successful surgery, may you hear all the noises, even the annoying ones!
