Pieceful Monday
Happy Pieceful Monday, everyone! I hope you all had a great weekend! The weather was lovely here in Minnesota, with low temps, low humidity and plenty of sunshine. Despite the weather, I spent some quality time in my quilt room, so let me show you what I’ve been up to. I’ve been working on some quilt blocks.
This is the first of the blocks of Round 2 of Moda Blockheads. This block finishes at 12 inches. I’m making my blocks using a mash up of Kim Diehl and Jo Morton fabrics.
The blocks come out each week on Wednesday. I was four blocks behind this weekend, so I got busy and caught up!
In this photo are Blocks 2 and 3 (top row) and Blocks 7 and 8. All of the blocks so far are pieced, with the exception of Block 8. However, there is a substitute pineapple block if you don’t prefer appliqué. All of these blocks finish at 6 inches.
This is Block 4 and it finishes at 12 inches.
Here is Block 5, the largest block so far, finishing at 24 inches.
Block 6 finishes at 12 inches. It’s my favorite block I’ve made so far, I think.
And here they are, all together on my too small design wall.
More Fabric, Please
On Friday, two quilty friends and I went to a quilt shop together. I picked up a few more Kim Diehl fat quarters, because that 24 inch block used up quite a bit of my stash! Aren’t they pretty?
On the day we were there, it was the first day of the Minnesota Shop Hop. I couldn’t resist picking up these two fat quarters from the Quilt Minnesota 2018 fabric line. The geranium print is a popular one!
Coming Up!
I also quilted a table runner this weekend, and it’s now waiting for its binding. I’ll show that to you soon. Soon I’ll also be showing you two finishes — my Postcard from Sweden and my Wayward Transparency. I’m really excited to show them to you!
I’m linking up today with Beth and her Main Crush Monday.
What did you do this weekend? I’d love to hear!

Pretty fabrics, and the block at the top is special. Yum, I get why the geranium fabric is popular! Looks like you stay busy.

WOW, you have been busy in the sewing room. I envy you that time. I’m saving all the Blockhead 2 patterns to do this fall when things quiet down. I agree, block 6 is my favourite so far. Love seeing all the blocks done with various colours.

Great job playing catch-up on your blocks! They are adorable. I see you got some of the turq poppy fabric. That’s the first one we ran out of at the shop–out by 9 AM on the first day, after the first bus of quilters left.

You have been busy. I like the polka dot fabric in the nine patch blocks.

Hi Wendy! Love all of that new fabric – I enjoy Kim Diehl as well. I can’t believe one of the blocks is 24″ alongside some 12″ and 6″ ones. The layout looks great – how many blocks total are there? You know I’m looking forward to the Postcard and Transparency reveals. Can’t wait! Happy Monday! ~smile~ Roseanne

Yikes, what a productive weekend Wendy. Some of those blocks must have little pieces to finish at 6″. They are really cute and the combo of block sizes will be great. That red floral is gorgeous!!

Oh Wendy! I love all of your blocks. And your new fabrics you have chosen are great. Can’t wait to see more! Looks like you’ve gotten back in the swing of sewing and enjoying quilting time!

Seriously, Wendy!!! You need to pick a lane :-p Your blocks are all over the place. I have no idea whether you are making a sampler or a mash-up or just cutting/sewing fabric willy-nilly 😀
Ok, I agree with you – Block 6 is my favorite too. May your creativity continue throughout the week and into the weekend!!!

Those blocks look beautiful in those prints. That was a great choice for your quilt. Looking forward to those finishes!

Wow you sure had a productive weekend! I like Block 5 best but 6 is great too. Also great is that MN fabric!

Your blocks are just lovely in those pretty fabrics! Yes, you definitely needed to replenish your stash 🙂 Love that geranium print, too!

Love all of your blocks especially the one with the small gingham print used as a background. It’s funny how much fabric one 24″ inch block can used. Nice shopping and of course I’m drooling over the geranium print.

The weather was perfect in MN. I love the way those blocks are turning out. I think the largest is my favorite so far, but I do love that pineapple too! I worked on finishing my Island Batik project and binding a string quilt (writing blog tonight). Did get a lot of quality time and work done while hubby was playing. All caught up for July – now to get moving on August!

Great job catching up with Moda blockheads. I like your fabric choices. Muted yet colorful. I love block 1 the best.

Ooh, that flying geese block is scrumptious! I haven’t used Kim Diehl fabrics in a project yet but have something in mind. Which means I’ll need to go shopping! 🙂 Your blocks look fabulous together, and I’m definitely looking forward to seeing the finishes you have to share soon.

I love your fabric/color choices for the Moda blockheads! I plan to make the large block as a topper. I’ve had so many custom baby orders recently I haven’t had any time for quilty projects 🙁

Not sure if it’s the colours or the composition, but block #6 is my favourite so far too. And the rest are looking fabulous.
