Pieceful Monday
This past weekend has been a busy time of sewing and spending time with Nita. Nita and my brother, Steve, have a little quilt shop called What A Hoot Quilting here in Minnesota. I helped them a bit this weekend with some fun sewing projects. Here’s a little peek at what we worked on. I didn’t get all the pattern names and details, so you’ll just have to peek at the fun fabrics and sneek peeks.
I sewed all day Saturday. My view out the window was white with snow. Between Saturday and Sunday, 11 inches of wet, heavy snow fell.
Usually there is a shimmering lake in view out of that window. It’s a beautiful view, any time of the year.
Nita and I put our heads together as we played with the Wefty tool.
Meanwhile, I was stitching some springy greens together.
Those strips eventually were added to these cute flowers.
What a fun weekend, sewing with Nita. I quilted and bound a quilt for her, helped her with the Wefty project, cut and finished another quilt top, and worked on cutting up some 2-1/2″ squares. I was so busy sewing, I completely forgot to take more photos!
Before we started all that, we both took our machines in for a spa day. A good way to begin a sewing weekend, don’t you think?
All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
Happy Monday, everyone!
Wendy

Hi Wendy! That looks like the absolute perfect way to spend a day with family while getting almost a foot of snow. That is NUTS. Spring certainly seems to be buried in your neck of the woods. I didn’t know they owned a quilt shop! How fun is that. I’ll have to be sure to stop there should I ever get in the neighborhood. I’ll bet you had a ton of fun. ~smile~ Roseanne

I have not heard of the Wefty tool and will need to look it up. Your winter is never ending – my daughter says it just won’t go away and that it is the second worst winter since they have lived in the north about 10 -12 years now

Wow, having a quilt shop in the family could be dangerous to one’s budget. Those were pretty fabrics you were working with. Looks like a fun weekend.

You block looks like it’s ready for Spring but I don’t see it out your window. I’m glad you had a wonderful inside weekend.

Glad you could take advantage of all that white stuff (must’ve come your way from my Alberta fam as they had two days’ dump of it Friday/Saturday! None here and that’s just fine by me.

I’d say something very pretty is being worked on! 🙂 It definitely contrasts with your winter weather!
I hope you show us the final result when they’re finished!
Happy Quilting! 🙂

I have never heard of Wefty before so of course that sent me off to Google. I’m going to investigate for info on the process. I’m pretty sure I’m going to give it a try.
so sick of cold and snow in Northern Indiana…and the mud from days that creep up above freezing.

It has been a long time since I have been over to read posts. I caught up and with each post it seemed you said something to the effect of “not much sewing happened this week” and then there was block after block!. You accomplish a great deal Wendy – especially during this snowy time of year! Glad you had time with your brother and SIL. I love having family time. Looks like you worked on lots of fun projects!
