Pieceful Sunday
I’m sneaking in a Pieceful Sunday this week. My bags are packed; well, my quilting project bags, that is. Hey, priorities, right?! With our daughter home, we have been enjoying time together as a family, so my posts have been few. I have been sewing though!
One project I’ve been working on is this little ensemble for my daughter. She wanted a box pouch in a specific size. I had a little trouble finding the specific size – haha! The top pouch, with the tabs, was the first pattern I tried. It makes a nice box pouch, but more steps than I was interested in. The next two were made using the pouch pattern by Angela Walters, and it’s so quick and easy. When I make another, though, I’ll add a tab on one end. So if you’re looking for an easy pattern, use the one by Angela. The last item is a sunglasses case, and it was done in about 15 minutes. It’s a great way to use up batting scraps! The material is a Maureen Cracknell print left over from the wedding quilt.
Did You Sew a Jelly Roll?
Saturday was National Sew a Jelly Roll Day, and I’m wondering how many of you joined in. While I didn’t sew a jelly roll, I did pack up some 2-1/2″ strips. I was one of the winners of the left over strips from this beautiful quilt by Kathleen Mcmusing. Oh my, are those Island Batik strips ever pretty.
Honestly, my plan on Saturday was to stitch them up and ignore the packing. However, a quiet little squirrel whispered in my ear and told me I should bring the strips with me, so here they are, all tucked in this fun project bag.
All I will tell you about the project is EPP. You’ll have to wait for the rest and see if I actually get any sewing done this weekend in between rousing games of Dominion and Settlers of Catan.
I even prepped a UFO to bring along, and this one has been waiting its turn for quite awhile. I’m pretty confident I can get this one finished this week. Here’s a peek of some of the homespun and flannels in the quilt. I’m going to add some big stitches to the quilt top. Hopefully I’ll have a UFO finish to show you on Friday.
Of course, I have books packed and a notebook, ruler and pencils in case I get inspired to draw up some quilt designs.
So how about you? What are you working on this Pieceful Sunday? What is your favorite project to pack when you go on a trip?

Actually, I did quilt and bind a jelly roll table runner UFO and even got it all finished. It was too late to post it though, as it was like 11:30 PM. Travelling, I usually do not carry any sewing projects.

Love all your pouches, Wendy! My sister came over and we each broke a jelly roll open and started a quilt. There are a few other priorities in the meantime! Have fun at the cabin!!!

Enjoy your trip. I did not sew a jellyroll, which will probably come as no surprise to you. I tend to avoid precuts, national day or not.

That is a fun bunch of pouches! I hope your daughter likes them all – or do you get to keep one? 🙂 I went and looked at the wedding quilt, and it’s beautiful! How fun to use scraps from it in other projects. Hope you’re having a great time, wherever you are, Wendy! I’m packing a suitcase for a trip, too – and a project pouch with some embroidery to work on is coming along with me!

Ha priorities indeed! You can always forego the packing of clothes and just stay in your jammies and sew all week depending how far out in the boonies you are LOL Have fun!

What a lovely collection of pouches for your daughter! She is very lucky. I have never used a jelly roll but one of these days I will give it a go as I love sewing with other precuts. Hope you enjoy your trip!

Wonderful bags! I have been so slow to sew since we are back to our back and forth routine. Today changes that ….but alas no jelly rolls in my sewing this past weekend.

Pretty and perfect pouches. I was at the beach this Saturday so no jelly rolls for me – at least not the fabric kind. Hope you have a fun time at your trip. Yes, I agree Island Batik has really beautiful fabrics.

Ooooh, are those Kathleen’s enchanted forest scraps? Lucky win! I can’t wait to see what you create with those! Hope you have (or had) a great trip! I did sew on Saturday but not a jelly roll.
