Pillow Party

It’s a pillow party here once again. If you recall, earlier this year I made this quartet of pillows for my bed.

With the winter season here, I needed something a little more warm and cozy. So here’s a few of the new crew.

I made these over the weekend, using wool remnants, but I’ll tell you more about that in tomorrow’s post. Thursday’s post is my stop for the Virtual Cookie Exchange Blog Hop, so I hope you come back and read about these pillows and take a peek at some tasty cookies.

Up From Here

Meanwhile, another pillow was in the making. When Home Sewn by Us offered another quilt along, I said I would join in. I chose the pattern Up From Here. This quilt along is very relaxed and low key, but I still had a difficult time deciding on fabric. I also planned to make a mini version of the quilt, but hadn’t planned on a pillow!

This bundle of Christmas fabrics has beenĀ  in my stash for so long I can’t recall where I got it, or what fabrics they are. I do know at least one of the prints is a Sandy Gervais. I came across it during my fabric reorganization, and I knew I wanted to use it for Up From Here.

I made four blocks that finished at 9 inches.

After sewing the blocks together, I used fusible fleece for the back and quilted a simple grid using a neutral thread. No matter how I tried, I could not get a decent photo showing the actual colors of the fabrics. The neutral is much more golden rather than tan.

I used the same fabric to make an envelope backing, and my pillow was done. This pillow will find its home on our couch during the holiday season.

Do you enjoy making pillows? Are you making any this season?
