Pillow Talk 2
It’s pillow talk once again. While I really wanted to spend some quality time with my pillow yesterday morning, that’s not what I’m talking about. I whipped up another pillow for my bed, so let me show you what I did.
Bernie of Needle and Foot has a new feature on her blog this year. She has been working with some amazing bloggers who have curated fabric bundles for her, and she features one each month. February’s Blogger Bundle was curated by Kitty Wilkin of Night Quilter. You can read Bernie’s post about it here. If you want to see January’s bundle, you can go here.
When the February bundle popped up. I knew I wanted the fabric. I’ve followed both Bernie and Kitty for almost as long as I’ve been blogging; they were two of the first blogs I subscribed to. Both of these creative artists inspire me in so many ways.
Kitty wrote a post about the Bundle with a giveaway, and guess what? I won! I don’t win things often, so there was a little happy dancing here!
This fabric bundle is absolutely lovely. The colors are so rich, and go together so well.
As soon as I saw the bundle I knew wanted to make the Every Moment Pillow that was featured in the 2017 Quilter’s Planner. The pillow was designed by Kari Vojtechovsky (@quiltsforthemaking). Incidentally, Kitty Wilkin does the photography for The Quilter’s Planner, so I thought that was a fun tie-in too!
This fabric is one of my favorites in the bundle. By itself, I love how it looks with my specs.
Once I took that photo, I got distracted and took photos of all the fabrics with my specs. Haha.
I added in one additional fabric, other than the pillow backing. The second light fabric is Zen Chic Modern Background Paper Graphic on Fog from my stash.
The pattern is a simple strip set; it makes me think of a modified log cabin.
The pillow is 20 inches square. Once I had the block sewn together, I used fusible fleece on the back, and quilted it with organic straight lines. I used Aurifil thread in grey #2605 to quilt the lines. For the back, I used a piece of Kona Sky from my stash.
Here it is, nestled with my flying geese pillow on my bed. The Twinkle Star Berry fabric is in both of the pillows.
Oh, and the January Blogger Bundle? I have that one too, so watch for Pillow Talk 3 coming soon!

Hi Wendy,
Congrats on winning the bundle! I am thrilled it went to a good home, and that it has been used already. Oh, I just love pillow #2 and boy it looks great with the first one. That little bit of Twinkle Berry in both really tie them together nicely. ~smile~ Roseanne

Congrats on the win-will you be making a wall hanging with the leftovers? I really love your pillows, your straight line quilting is perfect on them.
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Vicki! A wallhanging is a possibility!
Karen

Do you have any idea how difficult it is to go to work and pretend to be awake on the Monday after daylight savings??? Obviously NOT. Otherwise you would not be tempting us with the loveliest of pillows just beckoning – come and rest your sleepy little head on us. We will bring the deepest sleep and the sweetest dreams. You are EVIL, woman!!! (said with utmost admiration)
piecefulwendy
Hahaha — sorry, Preeti! I obviously was clueless (and sleepy).
Bernie
You are so fast!! It seems like you just won that bundle and you were on vacation for a bit. Go Wendy. I love seeing the bundle in use. It looks gorgeous. That Zen Chic gray fabric is a great addition. Thanks for sharing the blogger bundle event! The March bundle is up on the blog next week. 🙂
piecefulwendy
Thank you, Bernie! Can’t wait to see the March bundle!

This is fabulous! You really went to town and made that pillow promptly! It looks great! I also think it’s really fun that you made the Every Moment Pillow from the planner! Oh what a small (yet huge) world this online quilting world is, huh!? Well done!
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Kitty! I agree with you, the online quilting world is amazing!

I remember you winning the bundle! I cheered out loud and DH was a bit baffled 🙂 I love what you’ve done with it! That strong graphic design of the block is perfect with these modern fabrics in strong colors. The photos with your glasses amused me, too. Great job, Wendy!
piecefulwendy
Thanks, Louise! I’ve been waiting for just the right fabric for that pillow!
