Polar Bear Plunge Blog Hop
Today is the start of the Polar Bear Plunge Blog Hop hosted by MooseStash Quilting, and it’s my day to show you my little creation. It only seems fitting to be joining in this blog hop, since it’s been very chilly here lately with cold temps that feel even colder with the brutal wind we’ve been having. So let’s take a look at what I plunged in and created!
Some things are made just out of necessity, and that’s what I have to show you today. I joined in with the hop because I really needed to use some of my blue scraps, and I thought adding a polar bear to the mix was a fun idea. But what to make? I pulled out my blue scraps and stitched up some blue scrappy slabs.
Added some quick quilting in a log cabin-y design.
Traced up two polar bears on white fabric and added them to the blue improv slabs (forgot to take photos). Then I made a little bag that measures about 10″ x 3″. The polar bears face opposite directions, just for fun.
The necessity of this little bag? I’m going to use it to carry food from our freezer downstairs when I bring it upstairs. It’s easier than having frozen food in my arms. I think it will come in very handy.
So thanks for stopping by my blog today, and also thanks to Joan at MooseStash Quilting for hosting the Polar Bear Plunge Blog Hop!

great idea for carrying frozen food from one freezer to another (makes me glad I do not have a basement with a freezer and I don’t have to carry frozen food far!

That is just perfect for frozen foods! Besides being adorably cute…what a great idea. I hate carrying frozen stuff up from the freezer myself. Thanks for playing with us and inspiring me to make one myself!

Wendy, I love everything about your creations for the hop. Great use of scraps, and big points for ingenuity, (I know what frozen food can feel like going up a flight of stairs). Thanks

Your bag is really beautiful! I also use a tote to carry food upstairs from the freezer and pantry in my basement, but mine isn’t as lovely as yours!

You made something using 2 things I love: scraps and bags. What a great idea to put it to such good use for carrying your frozen food in too. Nicely done Wendy.

Such a cute bag and I love the scrappy-ness of it. When I was a kid, my favorite animal was the polar bear…not so much now but my kid self would have loved this bag to pieces!

Adorable bag, and I think I need one of those to carry things in from the garage freezer. I always have to stick my fingers under warm water to get them warmed up! Thanks for sharing!

You truly have a style different from any other quilter. I think if I saw one of your quilts in some random spot somewhere, I’d know it was one of yours.

A lovely work of art, Wendy. I thought the pieced block was totally sweet and wonderful though your addition of the polar bear was wonderful. What a great idea for it’s use…I understand how cold things get before getting to the kitchen. Perfect!

Hello Wendy, When I saw your project, I thought–“Why didn’t I think of that! instead of having frozen items slipping to the floor as I’m carrying them upstairs”. Enjoyed seeing your design, and creative fun.
Colette
Love your bags, and for some reason the backgrounds make me think of the aurora borealis. I like the reason you made them too. To carry stuff from one level to another. I do that with a bag I got from the funeral home to carry canning jars. I know weird right?
