Positivity Parade
I don’t usually post on Sundays, but I have a little Positivity parade to show you today. When Sew Preeti Quilts announced her Positivity QAL to make quilts that will be sent to Needle & Foot and donated to Mercy Hospital, I had to join in. I’ve wanted to donate a quilt for Mercy Hospital, so this is the perfect opportunity for me to do so.
You might recall that I’m no stranger to plus blocks, after making 100 mini plus blocks in 2020 for my 100 Day Project. You can see my finished plus block quilt here. All of those blocks were made from my scrap stash.
These plus blocks are much larger, so I had to give some thought to what fabrics to use. I settled on this solid blue, that’s very close to Kona Cadet. For the plus fabrics, I pulled out a Blogger Bundle I purchased from Bernie’s shop awhile ago. I thought it would be fun to use fabric from her shop in my Positivity quilt. That bundle is Carrie Bloomston fabric. The orange fabric even has little plus signs – perfect!
So without further ado, here are my first 12 blocks.
I haven’t completely settled on the layout yet, but I’m enjoying making plus blocks once again. You can expect to see another Positivity parade soon.
How about you? Are you joining in? There’s still time. The pace of this sew along is easy and fun. You can find all the information in the links posted above for Sew Preeti Quilts and Needle & Foot.
Oh, and by the way – did you know Bernie is having a retirement sale in her shop? She is closing her fabric shop, and all of her fabric is on sale! Don’t miss it! Here’s the link to Needle & Foot, just click on My Shop and you’ll be there!
Happy sewing, all!
Wendy

I haven’t made plus blocks all that much – in fact I am not actually sure now if I ever have lol

I really like the background color you choose, it makes your ‘plusses’ jump out nicely and get noticed;)
Mari
Oooh, I like the blue. It makes a really nice background.

What great blocks!! I like all the variety!

Those are such pretty blocks. I think that blue makes a lovely background and allows the plus signs to sparkle.

I think I suffer from “I want mine to look like yours” syndrome! Lol! I love your color choices, Wendy! The darker blue background and bright pluses are going to make a pretty quilt. It’s really fun to see all the different fun ideas and colors that quilters are using for their Positivity blocks!

I like your choice of background fabric. This is going to be lovely!

This one brought me out on Sunday as well :o). Love your blocks! It’s so fun to see all the different backgrounds–one really cool thing about the plus block is the background options just seem endless!). I still wanna do that 100 days thing! Yours looked so fun!

What a neat idea to use fabric from Bernie’s shop to make a quilt “for” Bernie. The fabrics all look so good on the blue background. And that plus print!

What a great batch of blocks, Wendy!! Yes. I am participating in the Positivity QAL. After a miss-cut on my first block, I couldn’t face making all blocks myself. Your readers who find themselves in the same boat are welcome to join the Positivity QAL Block Drive on my blog. (Post is being released later today.)

Love the contrast between the plus signs and the background fabric. This quilt is going to make someone feel very special

Hi Wendy! I just have to ooh and ahh over those fabrics. Divine! And they look so nice with the blue background. Each print is better than the next! Great job on your blocks. They will make one happy recipient very, very happy. ~smile~ Roseanne

Hi Wendy, cute blocks – especially the multi colored fabric!

I love this and your background fabric is perfect. They are fast little blocks, and it will be fun to see how many Mercyful Quilts gets. I’m looking for a little border fabric in my stash in Massachusetts this week. Hope you have a fab week of sewing…your heat is coming our way but for the worst of it we’ll be in the AC’d apartment!
Quilting is in my Blood
Your background fabric look perfect with the prints for the pluses. And of course I particularly like that rainbow print!

Wendy your Positivity blocks are just perfect! I love the fabrics/colour choices. 😉

Love the blue you are using for the background. It’s going to be a very soothing quilt. I had planned to play along, but then work happened and I just never had time to figure out a path forward.
