Positivity Quilt
My Positivity quilt is finished. The Positivity Quilt Along was organized by Sew Preeti Quilts. Preeti also designed the plus blocks and shared several layouts for those of us who joined in. You can read all about the quilt along over at Sew Preeti Quilts.
Once finished, the Positivity quilts will be sent to Bernie at Needle & Foot. Bernie will take them to Mercy Hospital where they will be given to patients who are terminally ill, and then to their families. You can read more about the Mercyful Quilt donations at Needle & Foot.
I dashed outside to take a quick photo, the sky was a bit clouded over and I thought it might rain. Then the sun came out before I could get the photo taken, as you can see from my little shadow self in the lower corner.
Anyway, my quilt measures 60″ x 80″ and all the fabrics used in the top are from my stash. The plus block fabric is from a Blogger Bundle curated by Carrie Bloomston and bought a few years ago from Bernie’s shop. The backing fabric is also from Bernie’s shop. Did you know that Bernie is closing her shop so she can spend more time with her family and do some quilting? She has some nice fabrics just waiting to be snapped up, so stop over – everything is 30% off.
Connie did her usual amazing work on the quilting, using this fun scalloped design. (You can see the true colors of the quilt better in this photo.)
I thought this backing from Bernie’s shop worked well with the colors in the top. I used the gray Grunge for the binding.
Thank you, Preeti and Bernie, for such a well-planned and fun quilt along!

I think the denim look fabrics add a earthy twist to fun & fanciful scrappy (from your stash – even better!) Xs and the backing & quilting makes it obvious this was done by a ‘real pro’ quilter! Donation quilts need to be the best we are capable of giving IMHO!
Great finish!

I love your Positivity quilt, Wendy! The colors are really happy and the quilting is a great design. Good for you, getting it done right on time. Mine is still a pile of blocks, but I know there will still be a need for it even in a few months. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Hi Wendy! Your Positivity quilt turned out just fabulously. I just adore the alternating blue blocks along the outside edges. I looks so spiffy! I also love the fabrics you used for each of the plus symbols. It is a bright and friendly-looking quilt, and I know that someone will be thrilled and comforted to receive it. Great job. ~smile~ Roseanne

What a super finish! Those bright pluses really pop against all those lovely shades of blue, like a sunny day full of flowers 🙂

Nice job. Part of the reason I was so enamored with this block is it lends itself to using scraps and bits. (Along with being easy!) Congrats on a great finish.

Everything about this quilt is beautiful — the design and the thought behind it.

Wendy, you made a beautiful quilt. I love the two grays that make a piano key style border. Love the bright colors of the pluses shining in the gray background. And the little cloud quilting is just perfect. On first glance, the gray may appear somber but all those details are really uplifting. This comment is late because I just now wriggled out from under the rock that was crushing me (insert eye roll here). Thank you so much for your participation. Big Hugs to you.

For whatever reason I just got notifications of several weeks of your posts and missed commenting in a more timely fashion today. I think the backing for the quilt is fun, and I’m very happy to see how many positivity quilts were made thanks to Preeti.
