Positivity Quilt Top
I had no plan to make my Positivity Quilt Top with blue background fabric. I had purchased the blue fabric (remainder of the bolt), just before the Positivity QAL started. I was just short of enough fabric. What to do? I had a gray Grunge in my stash that had a bit of a blue tone – that would work.
This quilt is made for The Positivity Quiltalong hosted by Sew Preeti Quilts, and today is the day for those of us participating to show our finished quilt tops. Once the quilts are finished, they will be donated to Bernie at Needle & Foot as Mercyful Quilts. You can read about the start of Mercyful Quilts in this post by Bernie.
I used as much blue fabric as I could, then made blocks with the gray fabric and alternated them with the blue in the outer blocks. The brightly colored plus blocks are from a 2018 Blogger Bundle, curated by Yvonne Fuchs (Quilting JetGirl) for Bernie at Needle & Foot. Since the quilt will be sent to Bernie as a Mercy quilt, I thought it would be a neat idea to use fabrics from Bernie’s shop. I love the fabrics, and I’m excited that I have some left to use for other projects.
A glam shor, just for fun, in a shady spot. (The photo of the quilt on the grass shows the colors better.)
This quilt will be off to Connie for her longarm magic soon. The backing is coming from Bernie’s shop, too, and I’m hoping it will match well enough! Oh, by the way, Bernie’s Retirement Sale is still going on over at Needle & Foot. If you haven’t popped over there, you should – she still has some nice fabric available at 25% off.
I’m so glad I got my Positivity Quilt Top done in time for the deadline. It was a close one!
Wendy

I like your blue background, and adding the gray was a great idea! They’re both pretty with the bright pluses. Congratulations on getting the top done, Wendy! I’m still sewing along, but no flimsy yet.

Great quilt top! It’s bright, but calm at the same time. I love that you used fabric from Bernie to make it, too. Yay for finishing by the “deadline,” too!

I like how you alternated the gray to make it sort of like a border!

Love seeing Yvonne’s blogger bundle come to life here. The quilt is wonderful Wendy – perfect background fabrics too. I am so excited to bring all of these similar yet very different quilts over to Mercy. The staff loves looking through them, oohing & ahhing over them all before they are taken home by their families.

The blue compliments the bundle so well and it seems very appropriate to use the bundle for this quilt!

The blues and grays play together very nicely. No fights or disagreements that I can see. Thank you so much, Wendy. I am glad to decided to join the QAL.

Love it! The grunge was a perfect choice. I need to write my post…probably tomorrow but I think we have a few days.

How neat that Bernie’s fabric is going back to her as a quilt! I really like how you stretched the fabric by adding in the Grunge. I think that’s just what our grandparents would do back in the day, and it really adds something special.

I really like the two toned background. And how cool you used the Bloggers bundle from Bernie for the plus signs.

Wendy this is a beauty and I love the pop with the odd grey background blocks. It just keeps my eyes wandering around enjoying all of the pretty fabrics.
