Quilt Show Bits

I have just a few quilt show bits for you tonight. Our show ended today, and I’m tired but happy that we had such a good show.

We had quilts to see, of course, and I promise I’ll post more photos soon!

This year, we had a display of multi-generational quilts. These were quilts that had been worked on multiple generations within a family.

This quilt belongs to my good friend, Connie. Her great grandmother, who was German, designed the flower applique center.

Connie’s mother added the yellow inner border, and Connie’s granddaughter added the piano key border. Connie added the quilting.

Hanging next to the quilt were the templates that Connie’s great grandmother used for the design. The note with the templates is written in German in her great grandmother’s hand.

Rosie’s Bed Turning

On both days of the show, we had a bed turning. If you’re not familiar with a bed turning, quilts are layered on a bed (in this case two tables covered with batting and elevated on one end) and the quilts are shown and described to the viewers. Our theme this year was star quilts, and our quilt historian Rosie Werner shared a little about each quilt. All of the quilts shown belonged to our members.

The quilts in the background are those of our featured quilter, and I’ll be telling you about her later this week. You are in for a treat when you see her beautiful work!

And I was very surprised by this.

My very first quilt show ribbon, Viewer’s Choice, First Place, Miniature Quilt, for my Sundance the Rooster quilt. I’m absolutely delighted!

More quilt photos to come soon!

What are you sewing on this week?

Wendy
