Quilting Catch Up
I’m sharing my quilting catch up with you today. Monday came and went, and I completely forgot to post. We are enjoying having our whole family together again, but I sneaking in some sewing time too.
This jumble of fun patterns and colors is part of a pattern test. I can’t show you any more than that, for now, but I look forward to showing you the quilt once the pattern has been released. There may be another sneak peek or two either here or on Instagram, so stay tuned.
I am joining in with Powered by Quilting’s Barn Quilt Block of the Month and doing the mini series. These are my four blocks for the first mini. I’m making this mini with Kona solids from my stash and Grunge in White Fog for the background. The pattern goes together so well. If you haven’t joined in and are still interested (there’s still time!), pop over to Powered by Quilting and get in on the fun!
Moda Blockheads 2 has come out to play!
After a long time out period, it is time to decide what to do with my Blockheads project. Thinking I still had over 10 blocks to finish, I planned to stop where I was at and construct the quilt. However, after looking through it, I discovered I only had 7 blocks to finish. Seriously? That gave me a bit of a chuckle. Clearly I had spent too much time with the project earlier, and I just needed a break. So this week I’ve been working on the last of the blocks.
That block on the left may be my most favorite block of the bunch. I’m really tempted to make a pillow using that block pattern!
This is the last of the applique blocks that I’ll be stitching. There is one more applique block in the pattern, but I’ve decided to use the alternate pieced block instead.
Molly and I went to a small quilt show the other day, then stopped at a local quilt shop. I found this fabric on the clearance shelf. I don’t think I have to explain why this fabric had to come home with me. Right?!
New Addition to My Quilting Room
I’m having a grand time playing with this little cutie. Watch for a review coming soon!
Besides all that sewing, I’ve made three boxed zipper pouches for Molly. Three because I was trying to get the size right. I never did, but she now has a matching set of three and has already put them to use. If you are interested in making a boxed zipper pouch, use the pattern by Angela Walters. It’s done in a snap!
So what’s new in your corner of the world? I’d love to hear about it.
Wendy

I enjoyed the catch-up, Wendy! That lefthand block is beautiful!!! I’m super interested in seeing what the squirrel becomes!?!? Cool iron! I’ve been there, done that, with multi-sized pouches. I’m getting my longarm warmed up again after a month off.

I’m glad you’re going to finish up Block Heads 2 and I love the blocks you added. Very little seeing going on at my place, but I tried yesterday. My cutting was all wrong so I finally gave up and read Inspector Gamache.

Wendy, nice round up of your projects. I watched the Blockhead 2 quilt blocks and enjoyed many of them online. Glad to see you are finishing and can hardly wait to see the finish.

Oh yes indeed you needed to buy that piece of fabric-maybe you should just frame it!!

Some weeks are like that…the time just flies by. I can’t wait to hear what you think about the little Oliso. I rather love my big Oliso and may go with another someday…….

Wow! Lots of color in this post. Pretty blocks. I’m curious to know what you think of the iron. I have a small travel iron, but it doesn’t get hot enough.

Squirrel fabric!! Who knew such a thing existed? Of COURSE you had to buy it! And I love that big 18″ star block, too. It would make a super RSC block 🙂

You are working on so many fun things, Wendy! That barn quilt mini is going to be wonderful – love the color in it, and the grunge background is really neat. The squirrel fabric – definitely a must have! There are many of us out here that would love to have that one in our stash!

Hi Wendy! Ooh-la-la! That fabric for your secret sewing looks divine. I LOVE that green striped and the black/white crosshatch. I cannot wait to see what this becomes. What a cute little iron! All your projects look like fun, and I’m drawn in to that Barn quilt BOM. Those colors are so fun. ~smile~ Roseanne

Good Morning Wendy, what an array of beautiful blocks! Of course, I’m in awe of your preciseness (did you happen to see my trials with sewing a quarter circle on the dresdens…oh) and your applique is my favourite because I just love that look it gives. Have a great weekend and I’m sure some stitching will sneak in there.

Looks happening with all the bright colors. You are keeping it all zipped up – is it because you made those three zippered pouches???
